I've been in the industry a minute and the way that these three guys on a casual Tuesday treated us and made us feel like both family and VIP's within minutes was incredible. 5 stars for them alone. Truly exceptionial service and small bites (I bit the duck wing and saw God) and the cocktail program will not disappoint. Impeccable craft and the Corn Martini was a true original. Every sip brought a different flavor and the moment you get one of those charred cob oil smoke bombs you may too see your preferred deity. Incredible experience. I recommend to my bartender friends looking for something fun and I recommend to my couple friends looking for a “WOW” way to end an exceptional evening.

Amazing experience from start to finish. The cocktails were creative (with very thoughtful twists to traditional drinks). Everything we ordered I would order again. The hamachi crudo was a definite standout, with the flavors integrating perfectly. Will be back for sure the next time I'm in Chicago!

Okay normally 5 stars all around but I went on a live band night. I HATE live band in restaurants. The acoustic are not meant for a guitar, drum set, base, etc. it was hard to hear my date, so we ended up screaming. Besides that— GO TO THIS BAR. Staff are amazing, drinks are out of this world cool, design of the restaurant is amazing. GREAT bathrooms that are clean and well lit. ADA accessible which shouldn't be a call out but it is. Bring a date, friends, boss, affair that you're going to break up with, whoever, and they will be impressed.

After is a great way to start or end the evening. Great bar food and great drinks coupled with seasoned, friendly and professional bartenders makes it a great way to begin the evening before going to a concert or show and a great way to end the evening for a night cap. it is an amazing space.

I must say I was very disappointed with this recent visit to After. Vastly different than my experience around the time they initially opened. When After first opened it had a much more classy and upscale vibe that you expect from a Michelin chef backed spot. In my last experience the bartenders had uniforms more in line with the overall vibe and aesthetic of the place which was black and white formal shirt and vest. This time they had on some sort of graphic T-shirt that completely threw off the mood. During my visit there were also two bartenders sort of goofing around in between drink prep. The 24 karat espresso martini was ok but honestly underwhelming and have had many other better options in other restaurants in Chicago and West loop area. While the host was great and while I understand reinventing/reconceptualizing can be a part of the culinary experience particularly with a future forward place such as After, this simply was not it. As I was looking forward to this visit, I was surely disappointed and doubt I'd be back again.
