I stopped by this café while I was in the area, excited to try it out. I ordered an iced matcha with vanilla, a cappuccino, and a cherry danish. Unfortunately, the matcha was pretty disappointing—it was super watery and milky, with almost no flavor at all. For $8 a drink, I was expecting something much better.
The vibe of the place was nice, but after just a couple sips, I couldn’t finish it. I decided to ask if I could switch it for something else. The barista initially tried to charge me for the new drink, which honestly threw me off a bit. I was willing to pay, but then I realized I didn’t want to spend more money on another drink that I wasn’t sure would be any better. So, I ended up just leaving.
All in all, it was a disappointing experience, and I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon.

Solid spot in a quiet section of Chicago Avenue. Featuring coffee, tea, pastries, and some hot food.
There's also a small bit of consignment merch and a couple of small tables available.
Decent spot to grab a drink or work remotely.
Amazing interior design, but the coffee is way overpriced.

Aglaia and its employees are my favorite part of my day. The food is SO good, the avocado toast is my guilty pleasure! They have options to accommodate everyone & it’s always spotlessly clean. I appreciate how welcoming they are to dogs, too. Aglaia is a neighborhood staple and the first coffee shop I’ve ever regularly patronized.

Overall, the coffee here is okay, but is slightly overpriced. The main issue is the service. They're not always open during their posted opening hours, and when they are open, it can be painfully slow.
I lived at Mondial (just down the block), and don't realize we had so many other options in the neighborhood, so I tolerated it.
However, after moving a couple blocks away, i found many higher quality, more reliable, and more fairly priced options. I recommend Gangnam market, big shoulders coffee, or gallery cafe. They will certainly be open, the service will be better, and the prices more fair.

They sell drinks with cannabinoids without any warning. It looked like a regular juice if you don't read the description on the back.
Made me super drowsy right before work.

Great cafe with good food selection and quality coffee.
Coffee: my iced coffee was really good! I love that they have some many syrup options.
Service: amazing. The barista was very nice and my coffee was made really quick
Vibes: I wish there was more seating because I could definitely see myself walking here more often during the week!

Lovely café! The coffee was definitely my favorite I’ve had in Chicago so far- the Iced Lemon Cappuccino was SO good! I enjoyed the avocado toast but I’m looking forward to trying the grilled cheese when I come back. The staff is nice as well!

Beautiful, clean, modern space with huge windows, high wood-beam ceilings, exposed brick, comfortable seating, great art and a pop-retro “these boots were made for walking” music vibe. My very unique Chagaccino was delicious but the best part was the conversation I had with Jesse, the genuinely friendly and engaging owner. He runs a really great shop!
