Best biryani in chicago… awesome aroma, reminded me of hyderabad.
Also tried chicken 65 - very flavourful and very delicious.
They also serve “RUMALI” - which is really a Hyderabadi Rumai👌👌👌

I took my friends for dinner at Al Kabeer, expecting a good experience, but it was disappointing. The staff was unresponsive, and the food took too long despite us being very hungry. The Chicken 65 had poor quality and quantity, and the rumali roti was undercooked and too thin. When we asked, they said that's the standard. The second order of 65 had better quantity but was tasteless. Even the biryani, which used to be my favorite, was below standard today. This spoiled my dinner party and left me feeling embarrassed. I request the management to take this seriously if they wish to maintain their reputation. 😶‍🌫️🤥🤥🤥 thank you

The dish was a letdown. The flavors were bland, and the presentation uninspired. The ingredients didn't seem fresh, and the overall experience was underwhelming. Definitely not worth the price.

They are very unprofessional. They never give the food on time. I ordered my food and was told to pick up after 1hr and when I called after one hour to check if the food is ready they asked me to wait for more 30 mins.

It’s like full on Indian Hyderabadi restaurant atmosphere If you’re on the hunt for authentic Indian cuisine in Chicago, specifically on Devon Street, look no further than this hidden gem. Specializing in biryanis and a variety of goat and chicken appetizers, this place truly delivers a culinary experience worth raving about.

We started our meal with the green chili biryani—a standout dish for anyone who enjoys a good kick of spice. The flavors were bold, and the rice was perfectly cooked, blending harmoniously with the green chili’s heat. For the appetizer, we ordered the chicken kebab, which was tender, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. The smoky char added an extra layer of flavor, making it a must-try for any kebab lover.

Next, we sampled the zafrani chicken, a dish rich in spices and layered with saffron’s delicate aroma. It had a subtle yet complex taste, showing off the chef’s mastery of balancing spices. But the star of the show was the goat dum biryani. Cooked slowly to perfection, the goat was incredibly tender, falling apart with every bite, while the biryani was fragrant, with spices seeping into every grain of rice.

This unassuming spot on Devon Street is easily one of the best places for biryanis in Chicago, and their attention to detail with both goat and chicken dishes sets them apart from other Indian restaurants. Whether you’re looking for a spicy adventure or a comforting, slow-cooked biryani, this place won’t disappoint!

To finish our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in their apricot dessert, which was easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted. This dessert is a delicate balance of sweetness and the subtle tartness of apricots, making for an unforgettable treat.

The apricots were perfectly stewed to a soft, almost velvety texture, while still holding their shape, allowing the natural fruit flavor to shine through. What really set this dessert apart was the light syrup they were served in, which wasn’t overly sweet and complemented the fruit without overpowering it. The hint of floral notes and perhaps a touch of cardamom added depth and warmth to the dish, making it feel both comforting and exotic at the same time.

If you’re a fan of fruity desserts or just want to try something unique, this apricot delight is a must-try. It’s the perfect ending to a rich meal, leaving you satisfied yet craving just one more bite.

For the past week, I have been ordering biryani and have noticed a decline in both its taste and quality compared to previous experiences. It has become excessively oily, and the portion sizes seem to be decreasing each day. Need to be focused on quality & quantity.

Best biryani I’ve tried in the US. It tastes very similar to “Shadi wali biryani” of Hyderabad which is rare for restaurants even back home. They’re very generous with the quantity. Don’t waste your money on restaurants nearby if you’re craving Biryani.
