Algerias is such a vibrant seafood spot! We started with a refreshing complimentary ceviche before diving into two massive platters - the Charola Mixta with shrimp, crab, and mussels, and a shrimp & octopus combo. The shrimps leaned on the smaller side, but the sauce was so rich and flavorful, and the crab was surprisingly great too. The garlicky shrimp and octopus platter was an instant standout with bold and deeply satisfying flavors. Overall, we loved the warm hospitality and generous portions of the place with comforting flavors.

The food quality has gone so far downhill, especially the shrimp (which are tiny and flavorless). It’s really sad to see places that used to be great end up like this because 7-10 years ago this was one of the best seafood places in all of Chicago

A great spot for Mexican seafood dishes! We’ve been in the neighborhood for a few years and have been meaning to try. We look forward to coming back to have a Michelada and Octopus! Definitely recommend.

Waited one hour just to get my order taken and then another hour for the food I saw the waiter a total of three times when she took our order when she brought our food and when we paid.
Alegria’s is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Norman very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing seafood. Must come back. 10/10.
The best seafood ever and the sauce they cook it in is delicious 😋

the best seafood in chicago!! super spicy, 10/10 definitely recommend
Love this place! I’ve been coming several times a year for about 10 years. The sauce kinda changed over the years as far as flavor but when asked to make it extra spicy it reminds me of back in the day. Delicious!

The sauce/seasoning that comes with the special is out of this world, I save it every time and throw it on whatever I’m cooking the next day. The portions are good, and the service is always amazing. I have three young boys and they always make a huge mess, the lady I’ve had the last three times I’ve been in doesn’t sweat it at all. She’s actually very understanding and welcoming with my kids even though they’re animals lol, it’s refreshing because not many places these days are tolerant of children. I always make sure to leave a very generous tip and let them know it’s appreciated. My only criticism, and its minute, is the lobster, crab, and shrimp that come out on the special platter are just slightly overcooked. It’s not enough to be an issue and everything else is spot on so I still give it 5 stars, again the sauce and service are phenomenal, the ceviche is always on point, and the fish is always cooked perfectly hard find any fault with this place.
