TimeOut Chicago and Chicago’s Best needs to come collect their logos off this menu.

The Langostinos were sitting in a 3 inch bath of grease. I’m familiar with Nayarit style sauce- the best places I’ve had it is Los Magueyes and El Poblano in NWIndiana (that has since closed due to the economy sadly.) not sure what Alegrias is serving!!

The Pulpo Especial has 2 chili peppers on the menu and the description says this is supposed to be spicy. I could have fed it to a 1 year old. No spice, bland, and the strangest texture octopus I’ve ever had.

Bravo on the tostadas. Best tasting item on the table. Not sure how you get them so flavorful and flat, impressive! Keep that same energy with your seafood. Paying $$$ for greased up, unflavored, overcooked seafood is the worst.

Also- heads up to the owners, your waitress is stretched thin. Hire another. Although, once people start understanding how poor your quality is and this is just overhyped- you’ll be fine with the one I suppose.

Love this place typically, but ordered takeout and spent nearly $35 on burned, flavorless food (see other better reviewed photos to compare). Prices are not worth the gamble/inconsistency.

Algerias is such a vibrant seafood spot! We started with a refreshing complimentary ceviche before diving into two massive platters - the Charola Mixta with shrimp, crab, and mussels, and a shrimp & octopus combo. The shrimps leaned on the smaller side, but the sauce was so rich and flavorful, and the crab was surprisingly great too. The garlicky shrimp and octopus platter was an instant standout with bold and deeply satisfying flavors. Overall, we loved the warm hospitality and generous portions of the place with comforting flavors.

The food quality has gone so far downhill, especially the shrimp (which are tiny and flavorless). It’s really sad to see places that used to be great end up like this because 7-10 years ago this was one of the best seafood places in all of Chicago

A great spot for Mexican seafood dishes! We’ve been in the neighborhood for a few years and have been meaning to try. We look forward to coming back to have a Michelada and Octopus! Definitely recommend.

Waited one hour just to get my order taken and then another hour for the food I saw the waiter a total of three times when she took our order when she brought our food and when we paid.

Alegria’s is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Norman very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing seafood. Must come back. 10/10.
