This place is very close to our home, and we chose it to dine in last night after having driven past it several times. Last time I saw a buffet through the window though that seems to be during the weekends.
Our food was delicious and the service very friendly. Portions are generous and everything was seasoned very well. I recommend to start with the tomato lentil soup, so good. The bread was warm and delicious. Prices are very good. It’s byob; we will be coming back next time with wine. Also, it was not crowded at all, though we arrived before iftar. I will be telling all my neighbors and friends to try this place.

I want to like this place a lot, but my two takeout experiences have been meh..There doesn't seem to be a lot of flavor in the hummus and the dill rice. Baba ghanoush is okay, but still lacks smokiness. Dolmeh is good, but portion size on the veggie combo platter seems small. I also requested utensils that weren't included. Pita doesn't seem super fresh. Not sure if they make it in house or not. Overall, doesn't seem like food is made with a whole lot of love, but I want them to prove me wrong. Might give them one more chance (three strikes and you're out).

Next time will post pics, but this time food was gobbled up immediately since it was so delicious and everyone was hungry and everything was simply superb! The young lad cook knew exactly how to make everything taste incredible as he prepared our 10 items and he was kind, which is always a plus! Highly recommend this Persian [NOT arabic] place. They have the best variety of authentic food and it's just really great! One of a kind! A must try! We will be back!

Alfarsi is one of the restaurants where you wish you could rate a place 11/10. EVERYTHING was amazing - the service, the ambiance and of course the food!
We ordered some falafel to start with - incredible! And split the chicken kabob sultani and the spinach stew. Everything was perfectly cooked and spiced, special shout out to the dill rice. Their sauces were amazing too - flavourful tahini and a spicy hot sauce.
Our server was lovely and treated us to their date cookies on the house - honestly I’d come back just to have these!
Can’t recommend this place enough and honestly can’t wait to come back.

Restaurantji Recommends
This was our first visit, and we chose the restaurant to celebrate the New Year while introducing friends to Persian food. Unfortunately, the experience was a disappointment from start to finish.
We ordered similar platter combinations, but when the plates arrived, the presentation alone was underwhelming and didn’t spark much excitement. The first bite confirmed our concerns. The dill rice showed visible dill, but the distinctive herb flavor was completely missing—it tasted nearly as plain as white rice. The meat kabobs were acceptable but bland, lacking any char or depth of flavor. The vegetable kabobs were barely edible, half-cooked and without any meaningful seasoning.
The hummus and pita were also disappointing—again, bland and uninspired. Even the tea was tasteless.
Having dined at other Persian restaurants, this one simply does not compare. It’s especially unfortunate because the menu sounded promising, but the execution fell flat across the board. For the price, the food was unremarkable, portions were stingy, and the overall experience left us feeling utterly disappointed.

Alfarsi Restaurant is hands down one of the best Persian restaurants in the Chicagoland area. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and authentic, with perfectly cooked kabobs and rich Persian flavors that truly stand out. What really elevates the experience is the hospitality—Mohammad is absolutely top-notch. He goes above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and taken care of, which makes dining here even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for excellent Persian cuisine and outstanding service.

We live in the neighborhood and absolutely love this restaurant. It is one of our favorite places to eat and truly a hidden gem. We come here often and always leave happy, so we really hope it’s here for a long time. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. We recently celebrated a birthday here with a group of 16 people, and they were incredibly accommodating. The staff is always so kind, welcoming, and attentive. Our friends agreed it was some of the best Mediterranean and Persian food they have had in Chicago.
Even though the food and service are excellent, it often doesn’t look very busy. I think this may be because the atmosphere is not very cozy or intimate. With a few small changes, like warmer lighting instead of fluorescent lights, adding dimmers, or even candlelight at dinner, the space could feel much more inviting. I believe these updates would bring in more customers who want to dine in and help this great restaurant get the attention it deserves.
