House sake is great
When Amore first opened, it was clear they cared about the details. The food was always hot and fresh, the space spotless, and the atmosphere welcoming. We loved it so much we made it a weekly spot.
After moving away a couple of years ago, we recently came back to visit friends and decided to stop in for a nostalgic Sunday lunch at our once-favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, what we found was nothing like what we remembered.
The place was completely empty — not a single diner in sight, which should have been our first red flag. We tried to sit at two different tables, but both were sticky and had crumbs on the chairs. We looked at each other and asked, “Do we even dare eat here?” Against our better judgment, we stayed.
Service was lackluster from the start. We had to flag down our server, who was busy on his phone at the front counter. We ordered edamame, crispy tofu, and pot stickers — but when the food arrived, it was swarmed with gnats or fruit flies. We kept trying to shoo them away, but they wouldn’t stop circling the food.
We asked for soy sauce, which never came. The edamame was mealy, the tofu wasn’t crispy at all, and the pot stickers were soggy.
Overall, the experience was incredibly disappointing. It feels like the owners have simply given up on this place. What was once clean, warm, and high-quality is now dirty, sticky, and insect-infested. Very sad to see such a decline in a place that used to mean a lot to us.

Very delicious food! I had the Veggie Monster Rolls, the Oshinko Maki, and hot green tea. Although the tea was more room temperature then hot, the Veggie rolls were very delicious! My sister had their Tofu Yakisoba and Avocado rolls and they both were very good as well. Our waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was great. Definitely would recommend this place to try.

Delicious food. The Miso ramen is very tasty as well as the Shrimp and Potato tempura rolls.
Very unfortunate that a place supposed to be rated so good is underwhelming. Take a look at what we got. When was supposed to be the windy city Maki and the other is the Chicago Cubs. Not worth take out or dining in. Idk if the staff was happy and nice maybe it would have been better but to mess up rolls is pretty bad. Also the lack of flavor. Two thumbs down.

This place is a cute, intimate hole in the wall sushi place. It’s so convenient because it’s right by where we live so we get take out often. I absolutely love their tofu appetizer and sweet potato roll. My boyfriend loves the pork Kat su. They prepare your food quick and in an organized manner so your food stays warmer and fresh. We have never dined in, but plan to since it’s so intimate. Thanks guys!

My partner and I ordered tempura and snowflake (spicy) vegan ramen. $1 more and barely even spicy! Tempura was ok but the same tempura veggies were also in the ramen which made it very mushy and just about inedible. Even the oolong tea wasn't good, tasted like hot water with barely any tea! Finally, the aesthetic was really cheesy. Go to Rakkan Ramen in uptown for actually good vegan ramen.

This my favorite Sushi house in Chicago. Their tuna tartare is the best (I’ve been to 30 different places for the tuna tartare). I also really like their Nigiri. Make sure you try their scallops Nigiri and super white tuna Nigiri. Overall, very nice restaurant at a good price!!!
