total disappointment. 1 hour ago I ordered a few dishes to go. When I got home and saw what I had in the package I didn't understand if it was my order or not. Most of the order was about ok. But I didn't understand where the octopus I ordered was. I ordered octopus skordalia but the picture on the menu didn't match what I got at all. But instead I got some vegetables (the lettuce leaves look horrible) that will actually go to the trash along with the mashed potatoes and the "octopus". You don't even deserve one star, but there is no other option here.
I paid $148 for what? rotten lettuce leaves and no octopus, vegetables that I didn't want but you can't even eat because they look so horrible?
I look at other reviews, the octopus looks exactly as it should have in my order, but why did I get mashed potatoes with traces of octopus. Or did they mix up my order with another order? Very disappointed with this restaurant.

I’ve been to Greece at least 30 times, I’ve never tasted food like this anywhere in Greece.
Underwhelming is a gross understatement. To call this establishment's offerings Greek food is a profound insult to Hellenic culinary
tradition.
If this is the standard, every Greek citizen should promptly relocate to Turkey and enroll in a crash course on authentic flavors.
Let's dissect this disaster
The $50 octopus, a supposed delicacy, arrived swimming in oil, devoid of any discernible flavor beyond the greasy residue. It was an exercise in overpricing mediocrity.
The taramasalata, a pale imitation of its vibrant self, assaulted the palate with an overwhelming saltiness, lacking the crucial acidic balance. Its pallid hue was as unappetizing as its taste.
The wood-fired pita was an abomination. A greasy, griddle-scorched flatbread, it tasted of nothing but the rancid oil it was drenched in. It was less a pita, more a sponge for industrial lubricant.
The grilled calamari, a microscopic portion fit for a toddler, mirrored the octopus's oily, flavorless existence.
Each subsequent dish, from the lifeless gyros to the utterly bland lamb plate, cemented Andros Taverna's status as a culinary black hole.
Flavor? Nonexistent.
Authenticity? A cruel joke.
It's as if they've systematically removed every essence of joy from Greek cuisine.
This restaurant demands intervention. Not a polite suggestion, but a full-blown investigation by the mythical "Greek restaurant police." Permanent probation would be a merciful sentence.
And as if the food wasn't enough, we were treated to a waitress whose attitude was as sharp as her oversized glasses. For a restaurant demanding $50-$100 per person, $6 for a glass of Coke, this level of service is simply unacceptable.
In summary, Andros Taverna is a masterclass in how to ruin a cuisine. Avoid at all costs. Thumbs down, and then some.
On a plus side valet guys were outstanding, how was the four star for atmosphere.

Had a lovely brunch here and would love to come back for dinner. The spicy feta dip and the pita were SO good.

Seriously overpriced restaurant, but what isn't in Chicago.
The food was meh. The octopus was chewy and killed the rest of the experience.
Something was missing about this place.

This place is a joke
They charge $24 for that dry and tasteless chicken sandwich, when did chicken get so expensive that they put a tiny piece?
This place is overrated, extremely loud and tablets are so close to each other I could hear the conversations around, plus we had a reservation for 8:30 p.m but they didn't have a table and we had to wait for almost 30 minutes at the front while everyone was bumping into us because there wasn't enough room or a waiting place
There's way better places around
Don't go there, absolute waste of time and money

Our visit to Andros Taverna for dinner on January 26, 2025, was nothing short of appalling. My wife and I were shocked by the way we were treated and have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant before.
We had an early reservation at 5 PM. As it was a cold winter night in Chicago, I dropped my wife off at the door while I parked the car. When she entered the restaurant, she was not allowed to sit at our table, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. Instead, she was made to wait in the corner without being offered a drink or even directed to the bar. The host that evening, a woman, displayed a level of rudeness I have rarely encountered in the restaurant industry.
I have worked in and around restaurants my whole life, as my father was a consultant and owner of multiple establishments in the Chicago area. This host’s demeanor was entirely unacceptable—she was curt to customers in person and over the phone, unfriendly, and made no effort to greet guests warmly. When I arrived about 10 minutes later and asked my wife if she had been offered a seat, a drink, or even coat service, she told me that none of these courtesies were extended. She described the host as “colder than the polar vortex we just had.”
When I approached the host stand to let her know our party was complete, she coldly reassigned us to a small two-top in the center of the dining room next to tables with children, despite plenty of other tables being available along the quieter outer edges. There was no greeting, no coat service offered, and no acknowledgment that we were celebrating my birthday. She dropped our menus without a word, told us we had the table for “an hour and 15 minutes,” and walked away with a smirk.
The unwelcoming atmosphere continued throughout the meal. Our server took over five minutes to greet us, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. She did not explain the menu, the restaurant’s concept, or any specials. We ordered the Tsai Time cocktail, which was unpleasantly acidic. When my wife returned it, we were later told it was due to bad lime juice, but the replacement didn’t arrive until the end of our meal—at which point my wife no longer wanted it. We were still charged full price for the poorly executed drink.
For dinner, we ordered the eggplant spread, halloumi, beet salad, moussaka, and lamb ribs. The eggplant spread was flavorless and gummy, with no spice, fat, or freshness—just cold, bland eggplant that tasted as though it had been prepared days ago. The halloumi was similarly disappointing, with an overly sweet and rosemary-heavy jelly that clashed with the dish’s savory elements. The beet salad was the one highlight, with good balance and vibrant colors.
To our dismay, the mezze spreads did not include pita, which had to be ordered separately—a fact neither the menu nor the staff explained. The food arrived mere minutes after ordering, making us feel rushed. Our waitress checked on us multiple times, but it felt more like a tactic to turn the table rather than genuine care for our experience.
The moussaka was enjoyable, with good balance and texture, but the lamb ribs were a disaster. The fat was unrendered, the meat was chewy, and the accompanying sauces were entirely flavorless. Again, we were asked twice whether we wanted our food packed to go—a clear signal that they were eager for us to leave, even though the dining room remained mostly empty.
By the time dessert was offered, we had no interest in staying. Instead, we decided to visit Pretty Cool Ice Cream, a place where we knew we would be treated with kindness and respect.
This was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. The combination of inhospitable service and underwhelming food left us stunned and deeply disappointed. Andros Taverna failed not only in creating a welcoming environment but also in delivering on basic hospitality and quality. We will not be returning, nor will we recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Wicked over priced, and over salted. Not bad food, just bad for the price when compared to what you can get at countless other restaurants in the area. Pretty standard fare greek, nothing particularly stand out or inspired. Service was good, and the ambiance is nice, but we won’t be coming back because it just isn’t good enough to warrant a return trip ($310 after tip for 2 people).

I love this restaurant so much! I heartily recommend this place. The service tends to be excellent, and the food is fantastic! Mel, our server, was wonderful during my most recent visit. I had the Cappelletti Apertivo, the Calamari, Garlic Chicken, & the Mixed Lamb Grill which were all great!
