Love this place. Great food, service and atmosphere. Only negative is that it's challenging to get a reservation.

Armitage alehouse is one the best restaurants in the city. Stopped by a Sunday afternoon and scored a booth! I ordered the turmeric and tequila drink which is always incredible. My bae and I ordered a full smoked trout cedar salad, lamb confit pie, and sticky date cake w espresso martini! The staff were kind enough to split the espresso martini in two so we could share. So romantic, amazing food, amazing atmosphere/aesthetics. If there are no reservations available, just try walking in. I’m dying to try the duck and morel pie but I haven’t made it when they are avail.

If I could give a 6 I would. Delicious food, friendly service by well trained staff, gorgeous restaurant with a warm ambiance. I’ve been a few times and have yet to try a sip or bite that isn’t delicious.

You can’t go wrong with a burger or fish and chips. The samosas made my eyes roll back in my head. Prime rib sando is excellent. I look forward to working my way down the menu!

Another classy tavern from the Hogsalt team.

Managed to score a last-minute brunch reservation purely by luck. I fell in love with Au Cheval’s burgers during my last trip to Chicago, so I had to make a stop here. Both to test the burger lineage and to finally try that famous sticky date cake.

The space was split into two distinct vibes. A front section with a bar and a few booths, and a main dining room in the back. With a reservation, we snagged a nice booth in the back, and the service was super friendly throughout the afternoon.

The menu flirted between British tavern food and Indian dishes, so we kicked things off with the charred naan. We’d heard great things about it, and while it felt a bit heavy for a starter, the combo of spiced lamb and the yogurt dip was lovely.

For mains, we split the wagyu burger and a pot pie. The burger had a really solid smash patty with just the right amount of grease and crispy lace edges, though I did wish they’d toasted the buns a bit more to give it some structure.

The pot pie was satisfying, but not exactly what we imagined. They rotate fillings daily, and we opted for the Steak & Ale, which came looking impressive with a huge marrow bone jutting out. Conceptually cool, but since the pie filling was already soft, the marrow didn't add much noticeable flavor or textural contrast. It just felt a bit redundant.

The sticky date cake, however, was flawless. Totally agree with the consensus that this is one of the best desserts in the city. Addictively deep brown butter aroma, a nutty base, and a complete sticky glaze to push it into full indulgence.

Divine! Bring your date, your besties, your momma. This place is just so so good. Wine, cocktails, pot pie, & entrees are all just lovely. Staff is marvelous. Sara, Leo, Alysa, Declan were all just lovely people. Thanks to Gavin for helping get me onto the same-day waitlist. I always love introducing people to Hogsalt. See you soon!

I ordered food for pickup and instead of giving it to me in the front, they made me walk to a back door and ring a door bell and stand outside until someone came. I rang the doorbell 3 times over the course of 10 minutes before someone actually came to ask me what I need (and this is after they already texted me that my order was ready). It is 25 degrees in Chicago with a wind chill. The food was good but I was standing outside in the cold with no one even asking me about my order for over 10 minutes, after I got a text saying my order was ready. I understand the kitchen might need more time, but why not allow paying customers to wait inside in the warm, instead of making them stand outside in the cold, especially if most of their doorbell rings were ignored. For how expensive the food is, I’m really disappointed in the service. Especially considering I left a tip too. I ordered through DoorDash. I’m guessing they thought I was a driver and not the person who paid and will eat the food. If this is how DoorDash drivers are treated, this is very sad.

The date pudding was great...the shepherd pies were ok (not great), and Naan with spicy lamb was okay...the steak was outstanding and the Italian beef was dry and lacked flavor even after dipping it...thereby making the meal overpriced for what was served

Service was outstanding and loved the interior & the vibe overall

Went there for brunch and it was pretty mid. There’s none of their Indian food on the window and just basic stuff you can get at any other brunch place but way more expensive. We have yet to get a dinner reservation.

This restaurant and staff is ridiculous. The staff said you’re next in line when it took 4 hours. I will never come back here, they got our order wrong. & on top of that, the food was disappointing!!! I never experienced this horrible of an experience in my life. I won’t be returning and you shouldn’t either
