One of the employees told me they were closing in a minute even though it was 50 minutes before.

Not a great place in comparison to their other branches. The hospital has given them such a tiny retail space. They have done away with the best spinach and cheese croissant. That is what drew me to them 20 years ago. Note the charm is gone. Only the expensive orange juice is left. The avocado wrap I got had no avocado. Ridiculous.

This was my first time ordering food there. I got the caprese sandwich there... and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Very tasty, full of flavor, I wanted to have another one after I finished it. You can also add chicken to it for extra cost (I didn't). You have to try the caprese sandwich and perhaps even the other foods there too.

The downtown Randolph location is closed. We located Au Bon Pain at Illinois University Behavior Health building. You have to park at paid lot across street. Service was lively and staff was very informative.Food was how we remembered.Michigan use to have a few locations (we don't now). Spinach Croissant was very tasty. The soups are hearty and flavorful. The chopped salad bowls are the best. Well worth the trip.

UIC seems to have an issue with hiring rude staff in their restaurants. While I’ve had mostly okay interactions at this cafe, yesterday I had an interaction with a worker being accused of grabbing an extra cup for my soup and stating I would have to pay for the cup. I asked her to just remove it, I did not realize there was 2 and apologized. She antagonized me and I told her I didn’t realize I had a second cup and she acted as if I was trying to make her day harder. Most of the workers at this location are warm and inviting but I truly do not understand why this worker felt the need to antagonize a college student over a paper cup, I also believe I’ve interacted with her at the register before and she is the only one that will not greet you or give simple customer service. I understand it is most likely just a minimum wage job, but the negative attitude is potent and something that seems to be common across all UIC food staff.

Terrible slow and rude service. I asked if the salad station was still open and was told yes but the person working it was on lunch. I asked if they could make it for them since they weren't on lunch and was told no. Lmao what a joke.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! The staff in this location are rude and unfriendly. This experience was completely unpleasant. I would give this location zero stars if i could.

I've enter this place about 2 times and I just grabbed pastries, but this time around I have no idea what I was thinking, I order a sandwich from the little stand. When I walked up the lady just stared at me so I said "HI". I then ask for a herb chicken salad sandwich. As soon as I said that, I kid you not, her face just went blank. So I stood there confused on whether or not she knew how to make the sandwich because she didn't even acknowledge the order she just turned and started talking to the lady that was making the salads. Anyways 4 other people then came and started ordering. I probably stood there for about 15 minutes before I actually got my sandwich. To top it off the sandwich was so dry so much for a chicken salad it was tasted more like dry chicken. They're so slow and do a half-ass job. The university needs to fire all these lazy cafeteria workers and hire students instead.

One star is one star too many. Terrible service, ridiculous prices, plus they don't accept gift cards. No reason to EVER stop here.

The employees behind the sandwich and salad counters are so unbelievably rude and offensive to the customers. I really don't understand why this location doesn't hire student workers.

The food is pricy as most places are at UIC. They have pretty good bagels and pastries, but the regular & strawberry lemonade is the best 👍💯. The lemonade is a must try.
