Great pizza and really good service! Everything was fresh, quick, and nicely handled. The lady at the counter was kind and made the experience smooth. Definitely worth a visit!

What happened over here?

First, this has been one of my favorite pizzerias since 2018. My son has liked it a couple years longer than me. I come from an Italian family, so this place, when I started going to it, was very nostalgic. Plus, I started going when COVID hit. So, many of the people who worked at this location were mostly family as that had shut down their other joints downtown with the lockdowns.

Now, I took a break from this place for about six months, and when I came back, the entire staff looked like they changed, aside from some of the cooks back there. But overall, the people taking orders, I don’t know what’s going on here. And also, the flies in the food. I couldn’t believe it.

First, I decided to visit here yesterday, and the cashier, first, he didn’t want to acknowledge me. I don’t think it’s that he didn’t want to, but I don’t know the new system that they developed. But yeah, I had a person who ran in, complained that their food was wrong. And then, as someone like myself who knows this place, it’s hard to believe because, again, they’ve always had good service here. And then, of course, I get bypassed again. So, I decide to walk out.

I decide to come back today, and I start to notice a trend. Most of the pizza is not left out, and I’m not understanding why, as they usually have pizza on display. But then, I order my favorite, which I see there. But then, I start to watch and wait, and I start to see something strange. Flies all over the pizza, flying around on the pizza, on the pizza, crawling on it.

Now, getting a refund was easy at this point. But wow, what has happened to this place? Just with the cleanliness, and then the new cashiers here, they didn’t understand what a pop is. But, man, and I hate to give this place a bad review because, again, this has been one of my favorite pizza joints in the past couple years.

But obviously, there’s been a huge change here in the service, as well as the quality of the food. And the fact that you could just walk into the store, and you already have people who are complaining about being served wrong. I think the owners need to take a step in and see what’s going on here.

I hope to come back in the next couple of months, and hopefully, the quality and the service can get back to what it used to be.

I ordered a couple of slices on a Wednesday night, the place was totally empty, and while the size is undeniably impressive (around 15 inches per slice), bigger doesn’t always mean better.

When I walked in, the slices were sitting out on display with no cover, looking like they’d been there for quite a while. By the time I got home—which is only about 8 minutes away—the issues became obvious.

The bottom of the slice had a decent crisp, but the middle was still cold. The oversized slice clearly didn’t reheat evenly. Beyond that, the flavor just wasn’t there: the sauce was bland and lacked seasoning, the cheese tasted cheap and low quality, and the toppings felt like an afterthought. The crust was the biggest letdown—doughy, flavorless, and not enjoyable at all.

Even after reheating it myself on a pan, it was still a waste.

To be honest, I couldn’t even tell what style of pizza they were going for. It’s not Chicago thin crust, it’s definitely not New York style, and it’s nowhere near Neapolitan. It just felt like a confused attempt at pizza that missed the mark in every category.

Honestly if you let the low rating of this place deter you from eating here, you don't deserve the pizza. Staff was very polite, atmosphere was chill, and everything is reasonably priced. Pizza was delish. 🤌🏻

The Fries are good! The 1/2 Pound Beef Patty Burger was SO so good. The Italian Beef was a big regret. I Love Italian Beefs but this one didn't taste like an authentic Italian Beef. It wasn't soaked though and the Bread tasted old.

The pizza sauce here is absolutely disgraceful. This location used to be great about two decades ago, but now it’s just not the same. The parking situation is also not ideal.

This place is absolutely disgusting has no quality food care! Pizza slices are left out until ordered, no door to close the display cabinet so bugs are flying all over people’s slices before they’re ordered! That being said I still decided to try a slice & let me tell you it was disgusting!! The dough was flake crunchy the sauce & cheese tasted old even the pepperoni tasted gross. Horrible. Wont be long til there out of business if Baccis is continued to be managed this way.

Five stars — hit up Bacci on Taylor for lunch (they’re open at 10 AM) and ordered the sausage jumbo slice plus their lunch‑pasta special and a soda. Slice was absolutely massive—crisp crust, spicy sausage, felt like legit Chicago OG fare. Pasta was solid, came with fresh house bread. Staff super chill, low‑key vibe. Real neighborhood spot.
