We had a wonderful dinner celebrating a couple of occasions within our group and Julian went above and beyond to ensure it was a special night. Food was great. Staff were all attentive. Only negative was that It was quite loud and hard to hear each other across the booth, but wouldn't stop me from coming back. Great experience thanks to Julian and team!!

It’s a super visually cute place, however it is extremely loud. The music is a little over the top so expect to have to raise the voice quite a bit if you’re trying to have a conversation across the table. That being said, we were sitting by the windows with the great lighting. Not sure if the inner seats by the other side of the bar are more quiet, but definitely a tad darker. (Which may not be an issue if you are heading there at night.) Anywho, I was surprised at how hopin it was on a late Sunday afternoon.
In terms of the food, it has a very simple menu regarding what they offer. Your usual steak and frits, elevated burger, salad’s etc, and some interesting appetizers like the Tuna Tartar we had, but all of it was so delicious. Even the simple but not so simple tater tots we had. The steak was buttery soft and I got the béarnaise sauce with it. Highly recommended.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when my friend and I booked a reservation as I am from out of town and she made the reservation. It exceeded my expectations, and was truly fantastic! The food and service was amazing, our server Rios really knew what he was talking about with his recommendations. He suggested the crispy tater tots and they are the best tater tots I have ever had in my life (not exaggerating). The drinks that he suggested were phenomenal as well! Next time I am in town I will be going back so I can try more things on the menu! (and to get more crispy tater tots)

Highly recommend this brunch spot. Drinks are fantastic, and the ambiance is a floral dream. Our server, Julian, was amazing coming through with the best birthday shots and great recommendations. Must try the French toast and lobster omelet. A must try for brunch, plus the music is a vibe.

Do not ever order the oysters. The old fashion was good. The Paloma was too sweet.

Snagged a last minute reservation at Bar La Rue for my husband’s birthday since we had a horrible experience at another restaurant and ended up leaving the place early. Everything at Bar La Rue was amazing and service was top notch. Shout out to Julian for turning our night around and simply being so awesome and attentive. Can’t wait to try brunch!

This is the new place to be at in Westloop!! it opened this year, with great hypes! I’ve been there multiple times and it’s been pretty good!
The location is fantastic, their drinks are tasty! I recommend the old-fashioned or the grey goose cocktail.
Their menu is pretty tasty, we have tried the fries, burgers, lobster roll and other appetisers. They were fantastic!!
The dessert was good, but I had higher hopes.
Overall, I recommend visiting this place if you’re looking to enjoy a good night out in the weekend with some friends.

I was so disappointed with Bar La Rue. Given its location in the West Loop, I expected so much more. There are plenty of places nearby with a great atmosphere, better food, and top-notch service, so I had high hopes—only to leave underwhelmed.
Our bill came to $150 for a burger, 2 fries, a vegetable fondue, and two cocktails, and honestly, it just wasn’t worth it. The flavors didn’t justify the price, and the vibe felt confused. It’s like they’re aiming for upscale, but it’s not fully committed; the decor tries to impress but falls flat, coming off as inauthentic.
For those who are vegan or vegetarian, the options were very limited beyond the usual salad and fries, which only added to the disappointment. To top it off, we had to battle ladybugs on the window the whole meal, hoping they wouldn’t end up in our food or drinks. (Not sure if thats their fault but it was annoying) Overall, I'd give it a generous 2.7 out of 5. They’ve only been open a few months with a 4.2 rating, but I wouldn’t recommend them. There are far better options close by. Maybe stop by for a cocktail. THE STRAWBERRY SPRITZ was pretty good.

The lobster roll was underwhelming but the smash burger and the fries were delicious. The raspberry sorbet was amazing. It's just the cost versus the offerings on the menu were lackluster. The chicken nugget with a smidgen of caviar wasn't impressive. I would like to go back and maybe order other things. When I spend $50 per person with tax and tip I'm not used to still being hungry when I leave a restaurant.

Will not dine here ever again after suffering a very severe case of food poisoning that required going to the hospital. I ate the lobster roll here that was either not cooked properly or had been contaminated, leading to a week long serious illness. Management needs to investigate their food processing and sources of contamination.

Food is delicious but the service was absolutely flawless. The servers recs were the mussels and it hit the spot. We sat on the patio which was lovely. I was so pleased with the early dinner for my birthday.
Parking: We were there on the week day which allowed for ample street parking.
