Beacon Doughnuts

I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of vegan donuts and my standards are very high. This place exceeded my expectations. I’ve never had a cake donut (vegan or non) that tasted so heavenly. The Boston cream donut is cake style and filled with generous amounts of cream so it’s essentially a donut shaped Boston cream cake. No complaints. 10/10 Also vanilla cronut was a yeasted donut (so more traditional) and it was crispy and flaky and fluffy. 10/10. I’m not really a guava girlie so the guava and cheese didn’t do it for me flavor-wise, but my bestie is a guava lover and adored it. Her rating? 10/10. The donuts aren’t exactly cheap but we got a half dozen for $18 and fed three people breakfast (and some lunch if we’re being honest).

This donut shop is a little hole in the wall in Chicago. Their entire donut selection is vegan and the quality is absolutely amazing!! We decided to preorder our selection to make sure we got our top choices of donuts however it seems like they have a good selection of donuts day of as well.

No words other than go!!! They are making me type more so you won’t believe you can get donuts this good from an alley

Solid vegan doughnuts. Some better than others. Favorites were blueberrie doughnut and apple fritter. Not as good as voodoo doughnuts.

We are visiting Chicago and looking for vegan options. So glad we went here. Every donut was amazing and we got half a dozen all different ones.

Boston cream donuts were my fav before going vegan, and I hadn’t had one since going vegan. The Beacon Doughnuts Boston Cream did not disappoint! Soooo good! My husband got the birthday cake and the vanilla bean cronut and loved both. We will def be back next time we’re in town!!

These are simply the best doughnuts around. And they just happen to be vegan!

This place has the gooeist, most unbelievable vegan doughnuts with a giant, delightful variety.

UPDATE: My husband and I recently went back for the first time in several years after hearing they made the switch to fully-vegan. As we only support fully vegan places (as of recently), I am so grateful they made the switch to save the animals. These are the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life; I did not know donuts could be this good. The fruit donuts are filled to the brim with the most delicious preserves. The brioche is incredibly fluffy and tastes like sweet bread dipped in liquid sugar. The cronut flakes apart into layers you can eat one by one. I only ordered six this past weekend, but I will be ordering a full-dozen from now on. They are now becoming a regular Saturday morning tradition. Old review: I ordered a dozen donuts back about a year ago and ate half of them on the drive home; they are that good. when I was there last, they still offered non-vegan donuts; if this is still the case, hopefully, they will go completely vegan. With all the amazing vegan donut options, they don’t even need the cruelty-filled ones.😄 Updated from previous review on 2025-02-09

By far the best doughnut in Chicago. Each one is better than the last. Staff is delightful and it’s so fun to take an adventure down an alley to end up at this gem. Not our first time and for sure not our last!

Delicious fresh donuts, carefully packed and the orders are always right. Fantastic service. The people that work there are always so nice. Such a great place.

I got some of their donuts at Hero Bagels in Chicago and they are honestly some of the best donuts I've ever had, vegan or not! I would 100% make a trip here next time I'm in Chicago. They were delicious.
