Allan was excellent and the food was everything. Definitely will go back when I'm in Chicago again.

Loved the atmosphere from the moment we walked in. Very welcoming. Service was quick and professional. The food had the savory flavor from England but spices from India that dressed it up. The spices complimented the meal without giving it heat. Wonderfully done. My next trip to Chicago will include another visit.

We chose it for ambiance and were not disappointed, such a cozy vibe but not cliche. We enjoyed the fish and chips - crispy fish, large portion - the chips were not the best I've had but still good.

We had a nice meal, including onion-artichoke bhaji (fritters)and a brisket burger with caramelized onions. The burger came with really good smashed fried potatoes. The fritters were well fried but not super flavorful and the burger was satisfying. Service was friendly.

Service was extremely disappointing. Our group of seven had to wait for additional menus since only three were initially provided. When the server finally approached, we were prepared to place our full order due to the long wait, but he insisted on taking only drink orders, repeating “drinks” instead of listening. Drinks then arrived one at a time, so much so that one guest had finished his drink before the last person even received theirs. The food service followed the same pattern—meals brought out individually, resulting in the first person finishing before the last even had their plate. The restaurant was not busy, so this level of service is unacceptable. When the bill arrived, we understood and expected the standard 20% gratuity for a party of seven. However, the additional 4% restaurant surcharge is excessive and unjustified, effectively making it a 24% tip. Unfortunately, this experience ensures that none of our group will return. As locals who dine out every Saturday night, word-of-mouth matters, and we will be sharing this experience with others.

Stopped by Monarch & Lion for dinner after work and wow—this place hits. Got the butter chicken, garlic naan, and a side of masala fries. Everything was fire, super flavorful without being too heavy. Service was chill but on point, and the space has that cozy pub vibe but still feels elevated. Perfect spot for a lowkey night out or grabbing bites before a show. Definitely coming back to try the lamb next time.

The lack of air conditioning should have been disclosed when upon entering and speaking with the host, — we realized it was TOASTY after being seated. Water was served without ice, and Cokes were room temp served with about three ice cubes. Decent service; our waiter was very attentive, but it was odd to have our entrees squeezed onto the table with all the appetizer plates still in the way. Naughty bird cocktail tasted so much of smoke that I was unable to drink it. Pretzel appetizer was mid at best, and both entrees, — a burger and fish and chips, mind you — lacked any flavor and were left unfinished. Incredibly disappointing experience, particularly for over $100.

The food was excellent. Chicken tikka masala and mushrooms truffles pie were excellent. As much as we enjoyed the food, the service was not good. The waiter was condescending and we had to constantly flag the bus boy to top up water. Unnecessary...

Food was good and the service wasn't bad just slow. There was only one guy and he never stopped moving! While we saw other employees he seemed to be the only one actually working! Wish they had more European beer selection

First time going there. Went with a friend. He had the pancakes and I had the crispy chicken sandwich with a Mojito. Very delicious and we both had the chocolate molten lava cake for dessert and that hit the spot. Overall delicious food will definitely go back.

Ambience was great, intimate, comfortable lighting, high ceilings, ambient music that allowed us to easily hold a conversation. Allan who served us is excellent, attentive, personable. Cocktails are top notch and the best passion fruit martini in Chicago. All the food we ordered was perfect. The lamb shank was succulent and flavorful. HIGHLY recommend. Will frequent this place in the future.

Checked out Monarch & The Lion for happy hour and it was a win. The space has a laid-back, stylish feel—perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with friends.

Service was friendly and quick without being pushy, and there was plenty of space to hang out without feeling crowded. Definitely a great downtown spot if you’re looking for a chill happy hour with good vibes.

Delicious food, generous portions. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the coconut confit hot tea! Fish and chips were great too!
