Had an 8:30 reservation, we arrived at 8:20 as we got a message saying our table was just about ready. We finally got sat at 9:50! Our waitress, Katarina, seemed very attentive at first and told us our chef was on his way. Give it another 30 minutes and still no chef! She promised he'd be there shortly & still nothing. She told us she'd have the general manager, Lance, out to us in 2 minutes & he never came. She never came back either until the very end. Finally, at almost 11, our chef finally came to our table! He did apologize and told us that he doesn't know what happened as to our ticket being lost or skipped and that no one wanted to come out to us due to that huge mistake. He was the best part of our visit. The food was amazing except for Katarina not taking our food orders correctly but, he fixed it and made everything right. Katarina finally came back when we were almost done eating. She only got 2 drink refills & there were 7 of us there. I was left sharing my daughter's water as I never received a refill. She again told us the general manager would be out in 2 minutes. He still never showed up. A shift manager came out to speak to us to apologize and give us some b.s. excuses. We left there almost 4 hours after we arrived for my husband's birthday dinner. Needless to say, we will never be back, nor will we ever recommend this restaurant again.

Reservations were set for 8:15 pm, didn't get sat at our table until 9:30. Our wait went from 30 minutes behind, to 45 minutes. Checked in again at 9pm, was told another 20 to 25 minutes. Went back to check the wait again and attempt to cancel my reservation since we have already waited so long. At this point, we were willing to eat whatever was open for our family of 6. They weren't willing to let us leave and we ended up being the next table sat. From there, service did not improve, our waitress was not content and always seemed missing. There was a bug in my onion soup. Waitress offered a free appetizer to compensate but it was declined as it already took long enough just to place an order and receive our soup & salad. Our cook didn't include any mushrooms with our steak entrees, it was brought out at the end and was the very last item made. I understand it was extremely busy due to the parade, however, service over all could have been better. Very disappointing for our first visit and a special holiday weekend in Chicago.

We had a great experience at Benihana! Jean Paul was amazing his presentation and stunts were truly one of a kind. We visit often and usually see the same routines, but his performance was stellar and refreshingly different. The food was very good as always; however, our appetizers arrived late, so we were already eating by the time they came out. Overall, Jean Paul made the visit memorable, and we'd definitely return!

The most hostile dining experience of my life. We went to Benihana for my birthday, we were greeted by the server shortly after sitting down who asked for our drink orders and asked if any of us had attended before. Most of the group had not, she acknowledged this and then didn't explain the menu or experience further to us. When she can back for food orders she got visibly annoyed by our orders when we started ordering fried rice and appetizers instead of the 6 course meal. We had questions about how the 6 course meal worked and she rolled her eyes annoyed at us when we didn't understand. Her demeanor and attitude shifted after this point. She also made our friend who had just had wisdom teeth surgery feel bad for not ordering a meal and rolled her eyes at him when he explained. She brought out our drinks a later and lamented to us that it took a long time because the bar was actually closed and we couldn't get any more drinks, despite her offering and prompting drink orders earlier. She then repeated this sentiment when she brought around appetizers and told us again “the kitchen is closed.” This was only 30 minutes after we sat down for our reservation and over an hour before the building closed. Our chef was great when he came to the table and we have no complaints about him! He did a good job lifting our spirits while we all felt very awkward. About ten minutes after the chef was done cooking the server came back with our check and stood by my side while she waited for me to pay. She didn't leave the bill for us to review and our food was still on hot on our plates. Additionally at the beginning of the meal she asked if there was a celebration that brought us in. We told her it was my birthday. Throughout the night we watched the staff sing happy birthday and celebrate multiple other tables in the restaurant but we were never greeted. It felt we were being singled out. This was the worst birthday experience and I wouldn't not recommend Benihana to anyone.

Been to this one a handful of times. Overall great experience, but this time, they over charged me on tips. I split my bill in the middle with my friend. My portion was $56.99. I hit the 20% button for the tip, but somehow my tip came up as $30.40. It should be around $12. I noticed this when I walked out. I spoke to the manager. He adjusted the amount to $15, but unfortunately that didn't make it to my bank. I had to open a dispute.
