I really enjoy supporting community restaurants, especially black owned businesses, and this place is one of my favorites. However, I have to be honest.... today, the food wasn't so good. To be clear, Im not what you would consider a regular....however I am a faithful frequent customer. I ordered the short ribs with mac and cheese , dressing with a side of gravy and cranberry sauce... then added a side of yams. This is always my 1st option when I'm undecided on what...
It seems restaurants these days have an issue with being consistent with their food. They used to have a mustard fried catfish w/ 1 side lunch special. Now youre just forced to pay $20 for a meal and 3 underappetizing sides. MOST unfortunate. Things have steadily declined since the closure of the main location and the move over here from the stony island location (and the racine location if we are being totally honest).... BUT thats usually how black owned businesses treat black...
The corn bread dressing is not consistent. Sometimes it is excellent sometimes it has no flavor and sometimes it’s overwhelming with sage ????? Don’t know what the problem is but they need to figure it out.
