The room is lovely. The food is good. The service is slow at best. We were there at 5:45 and it was not that crowded. I think the kitchen has problems as well as the servers. There doesn't seem to be anyone in charge.

We loved this restaurant the waiter was great, the food was delicious and the drinks were tasty. overall experience was good! I'd recommend trying it. Small in size but big in delivery!

Overall disappointing experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was quaint and relaxed. Service was fantastic, our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food however completely missed the mark. Maybe an off night for the kitchen but our entire group was taken aback with how off each entrée was.

I am surprised I had never heard of this place; highly recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. Food was excellent and it is a small place so service is very fast and friendly. Tuna tartar was off the hook. I ordered the lamb shank which was terrific but now I want to go back for the marble steak. Great location but free parking was a little tough on a Friday night. There is a parking garage right down the street though. The Creme Brulee was not on the menu but it is a must!!! They take their tea very seriously but have a full bar and extensive wine and cocktail menu. We were able to get a table right away at 7pm but it filled up pretty fast. Fun crowd.

Went in for the first time on Wednesday and was delighted at how great the experience was. I was in a bit of a rush for an event and thankfully the staff were very quick to make my order. The portion of my dish was very large and was happy to take some leftovers. Their wine was also delicious, looking forward to coming back and trying the other items from the menu.

Had such a great time at Back and Caspian.

Server was awesome. Had the lamb shanks and they were literally falling off the bone. The entire plate with pasta and veggies went really well together.

They make a really mean smoked old fashioned

I got the TooGoodToGo order. They gave a piece of salmon, kefta, and beef slices. It was advertised as seasoned meats but only the kefta seemed to be seasoned. If I was going to season it myself I would’ve just gone to the grocery store. Salmon did not seem very fresh and was already pretty fishy when we got home. They also put all the raw meats and fish in one container — raw fish touching raw beef.

My friend and I had a great experience! The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. The staff was super nice and helpful in recommending dishes. We tried the pork pasta, octopus and salad. While the salad was a bit too sour for our taste, everything else was really good. Definitely worth a visit!

We've been here before and enjoyed it but this time the food was not great, they got my order wrong and didn't apologize while I waited for them to prepare the correct order and the rest of our party ate their dinner. Salads were good but there are better choices in the neighborhood.

UPDATE: I did bring these concerns (and more) to the attention of the owner, Evelyn, when I returned to the venue the next day to retrieve my belongings. It's worth noting that my belongings were thrown into boxes and some were broken or damaged. While I was there, Evelyn raised her voice and began asking for more money and listing the number of reservations she turned down to host my party - as if she was doing me a personal favor and not simply operating her business as listed in the contract? At this time I also tried to speak to Evelyn and the manager about the open tabs my sister was asked to pay and their response was to print a bunch of receipts and letting me know if I could sort through them and let them know which were erroneous they could look into it. Note their were more than 40 guests ast my event and thousands in charges so I was not up to the task of doing this extra work. Instead, my sister disputed the charges with her bank and was refunded.

I hosted my 40th birthday at Black & Caspian and this review has been sitting in the back of my mind for several months since. It felt a little too painful to write at first because it was unfortunately a dark cloud over what was a celebratory weekend for me.

While my event was a success, my experience with Black & Caspian was not a good one.

The owner, Evelyn, was late or a no-show to our final meeting which we confirmed the day prior and she was also late to our agreed upon time for setup the day of my event, which made me run late. The restaurant had also been re-set for dinner service the day before even though we had agreed on a floorplan so I had to rush to move furniture and clear dishes in order to complete our setup. Asking your customer who has paid for a full buyout to move furniture is simply unprofessional.

I had to provide all of the disposable dishes and cutlery for my event and then Evelyn did not use them in the ways as we had discussed. And while we had agreed to have her serve champagne that I would pay for, she didn't order it so I had to go to Jewel on the day of my party and buy 20 bottles myself.

The servers the night of my event were NOT experienced enough to handle the event. One of the bartenders was so painfully slow and made each drink differently and/or incorrectly. Some with one ice cube, some full, making shots instead of drinks, etc.

At the end of the night we realized they had opened more than one tab for several of my guests and then they asked my family to pay for the tabs that had been unknowingly left open. Absolutely outrageous to ask my guests to pay for other people's tabs because they were disorganized.

Honestly the list goes on... but I will leave you with this: I do not suggest hosting your event at Black & Caspian as you are sure to leave disappointed like I did.
