Maybe the best food of my adult life, seriously. Beautiful, delicious, no one harmed. If I lived close to here I would come every single Friday. I got the single person mixed plate and each thing was amazing. The people are also lovely.

Food is great. Not very expensive. I just wish it was downtown. Updated from previous review on 2024-05-22
i got the eggplant nigiri and i wish i could like it more than i did. the eggplant’s taste perfectly but the eggplant and rice ratio is way off. there is too much rice. and in the rice there was too much vinegar. i ate all eggplants but one whole piece of rice was leftover (i took that piece home because my mother will not be pleased to know i throw away rice).
the price is on the expensive side which i wouldn’t mind, if they could have split the rice into 5 pieces and give me more eggplants. still 4 star for the taste, close to 3.5 star for me.

Surprisingly amazing sushi and fabulous customer service. I’m not vegan and I would still probably choose dining here over a traditional sushi joint (unless I was specifically seeking the traditional sushi bar experience). It’s great for dietary restrictions as they have a list up on the wall listening every common allergen for all menu items. It’s slightly on the pricier side for a grab ‘n’ go, but 1. it’s reflected in the quality, and 2. there’s a baseline cost associated with any type of sushi. The BBQ eggplant nigiri was so tasty—definitely the best example I’ve experienced of eggplant imitating meat/something else—and the dragon roll managed to top it.
Dietary restrictions: Everything is vegan/dairy free, and some items can be made gluten free (I assume the sushi rice uses rice vinegar, which isn’t the case in all places). Beyond that they have all allergens listed on a spreadsheet for reference.

Yummy plant-based sushi - I really enjoyed the Crispy Kale Dumplings and California rolls. Service was friendly and food was delivered quickly. Fresh and great flavor - would eat there again.

leaving 5 stars because bloom sushi has carefully curated a menu that cares for people with plant based needs. love the fact that x market is creating a space to allow culinary educated individuals to further connect people through wonderful and tasteful flavors with every bite. the two workers managing the kiosks recommended amazing dishes & i feel like everyone deserves to at least go to this place at once (maybe even more). these are people that are passionate at what they do and that translates in the food. will definitely be going again and to whoever is reading this , you should too.

Such amazing service and food! My sister cannot eat cheese and this is a great alternative with an amazing rich twist. Love the flavors. With every bite you can taste everything. Will be coming here more often.

Try them all, they won’t disappoint. I only come to XMarket for the vegan sushi.
Disclaimer now. This place is hiring people who are not familiar with allergies and just focusing on sales. I know this is not a dedicated GF restaurant as opposed to bloom in wicker park. However , I’d assume if i asked you 6 different ways if a roll had gluten in it , you would actually tell me the truth instead of maxing your sales. My girlfriend and I have been waiting on refunds for more than a week now and i’m assuming I’m not getting it. Stay away from this place if you’re gluten free. You guys got my family all sick

I honestly didn't want to write a negative review because i like going to x market but after weeks of holding this in; i needed to say something.
Stay away from bloom. There was a Spanish employee there who was ignoring a girl with a speech impediment . She was ignoring the girls questions and trying to get her to just order and pay. I left instead because what kind of business does that to someone let alone someone with a disability.

My fiancé loved the two types of vegan sushi he ordered. He ordered the vegan “eel” which was eggplant nigiri and he said it tasted like the eel sushi he got before becoming vegan. In the picture, it’s the darker one. This was $9 at the time of this review. He also got the spicy melon maki which was $11. He loved both of the types he got but he said the eggplant “eel” was his favorite. He would definitely get these again and try other rolls.
The Bloom counter offers several apps and sushi rolls at the PlantX location. We tried their two most popular rolls, the dragon and California. Both were really good, the dragon came with a bit more than the California. We also got the shrimp app which was okay but a bit too fried for me and could’ve used a dipping sauce besides soy sauce. Also the fried dumplings which were pretty good as well. Not quite 5/5 as I felt it wasn’t as good as the Bloom restaurant and the serving size for the price.
