Horrible experience. Don’t go. The staff does not want repeat locals. They are a tourist driven restaurant and does not care about the community and people in it.
This was one of the best dining experiences I have had. The food was impeccable. I highly recommend adding on a wine pairing to the experience. Service was unparalleled. If you are looking to splurge and love steak, you need to come here. Worth driving from WI to come here for sure!
Outstanding 14 course tasting with wine pairing. Focus on beef with some seafood courses. Unique atmosphere and service. All dishes prepared in front of you with an exceptional amount of care and detail. Tons of detailed information on the proteins and wine if that interests you. A very intimate setting. The entire restaurant seats 12; there were only 3 of us at a Saturday 8pm seating which should change because this place is not be over looked.
Bonyeon’s Modu Monday: A Marvelous Korean BBQ Journey
Bonyeon’s Modu Monday is a masterclass in elevated yet approachable Korean BBQ dining. This “casual” fine dining experience is exquisitely curated, well-priced, and an absolute delight for anyone seeking an authentic and refined exploration of Korean bites and flights. The six-course meal, paired with expertly selected sool (Korean spirits), is a must for those eager to immerse themselves in Korea’s rich culinary and drinking culture.
From the very first bite, the meal was a non-stop hit parade. The Cheesy Corn Croquette with Honeycomb Short Rib, with the option to top it off with uni or caviar, was an indulgent opening act. Then came the Quail Karaage, dusted with kimchi powder—best eaten with your hands, and Bonyeon ensures you’re taken care of with wet towels. The sool pairing, a Golden Barley Soju, was both savory and sweet, making the quail soar.
The Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Stew) delivered a deeply satisfying punch. Its broth, simmered for 48 hours with five different cuts of bone-in meat, carried layers of umami. Braised short ribs, house-aged pork sausage, rice cakes, Akahoshi ramen noodles, and a chili kimchi purée melded together seamlessly, further elevated by an outstanding Makgeolli (Korean rice wine) pairing. Dickens' Oliver Twist said it best: I wanted some more!
The Tteokgalbi Slider was a no-frills knockout—a burger unlike any other, uniquely Bonyeon. Then, the Korean BBQ finale—three beautifully prepared cuts: hanger steak, pork belly, and skirt steak—wrapped up the savory portion with a bang.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived: a kumquat sherbet with Yakult ice, green tea, sea salt, and crema, paired with a Plum Soju—a flawless, refreshing finish.
After experiencing Modu Monday, I can confidently say it’s a must for any foodie looking to turn an ordinary Monday into an extraordinary culinary adventure. Bring your friends, bring your appetite, and prepare for a night of fantastic flavors and fun.
I love this place! It’s very intimate, and elevated! I love that the seating is only 12 people, and it gives you that one of a kind experience. Food is fabulous. We went for the second time to try their new Modu Monday menu, 6 course menu of Korean classics. Highly recommend!
I thought I had written a review about Boneyon, but it just stuck to Resy. My husband and I have dined at multiple Michelin star restaurants around the world so our standards are higher than the average diners. That to say, we honestly, had no idea what we were getting ourselves into with Bonyeon. I had seen a clip online regarding the anticipated opening, but I had no idea, and my husband was mostly about the Asian centric cuisine. We were first greeted by a kind gentleman for our 5:00 reservation on a Sunday night in December. He took our coats and we sat at the GORGEOUS bar. We created conversation and opted for the reserve wine pairing because we love wine and love how it elevates food. When I say these pairings were the best I've ever had, I mean it- from new world to old world, small producers that accentuated every single morsel of food. Just then, the dinner commenced and we sat up in our seats while the chefs extraordinarily professionally walked in and introduced themselves. My husband and I conversed with our dining partners a bit but I mostly sat in silence in awe of the food and wine pairings. For the first time in years, I felt integrity in the food, hard work in preparation, and each piece of food was given a podium to stand on that exemplified it's every fiber. The chefs are incredible but the gentleman (I can't remember his name) who served his from the second we stepped into the establishment shouldn't be forgotten either. He was incredible. We can't wait to go back to Bonyeon again one day and experience what a life changing dinner that was! Thank you all!
Good food, but we went for restaurant week and I’ve never been so rushed out of a tasting menu. Only 5 courses, but with the wine pairings, it was rushed. Sat at 5pm. Served at 515. We were given bill at 6pm, and at 615 we were told there’s another seating in 5 minutes and we need to leave. To spend ~$350 for 2 people, we shouldn’t have to eat like we are at a fast food chain.

If you enjoy being overcharged and scammed - this is a must visit place!!!!
Chefs here are amazing! They have a very unique palate and will make the food either super salty (soup & sauce) or completely flavorless (appetizers)!! Very unique definition of deliciousness! So creative!
You will also have a very mesmerizing experience - as this place presenting as a Korean BBQ restaurant - the food tasted nothing like Korean dish at all! Want to open a Korean inspired restaurant- just add some sauce! Nothing else matters! Awesome!
The bibimbap and the soup was such a highlight - your tongue will be numb for an hour cuz it’s super salty!!
A meal charged $350+ but gives you only some basic Korean dish that tastes super unpalatable and cheap shaved ice for dessert teaches you great way to make money!
Advice for the chefs: Go Visit Korea and Learn What Authentic Cuisine Tastes Like - at very least, just go to K-town. Some field trip would be nice. Right, chefs? ☺️
Service was also fantastic - so many interactions! My waitress took my plates away several times before I finished my food. I have to take it back myself as if I’m playing some game :) Wow so much fun! 🤩
They will also rush you to keep up with the other group of customers who got their food first! What a great idea to clock out sooner! I learned so much!
Fun fact: the executive chef/owner was from the store next to this. But he’s nowhere to be seen and can only be seen on the website(?) Guess employee training must be so hard 🥹that the entire kitchen staff doesn’t seem to have any!
If you must visit this place, just a small piece of advice for you - don’t hold any expectation for this place! No expectation, no harm! 🎉

What a horrible horrible place! We were charged $500 for canceling our reservation. My wife felt ill the day of our reservation and I canceled six hours before the dinner. We called the restaurant and that’s when they informed us of this ridiculous Outrageous charge. They told us the owner would reach out to us. He never did. Who do they think they are? This is criminal.
I came in with a high expectation from the same chef behind Omakase Yume, but the overall experience was extremely underwhelming.
It’s a 14-course omakase, which includes 2 appetizers, 2 desserts, one course break, and one seafood dish. The beef courses are only 8 in total, and only one of 8 features A5 wagyu. The rest of the beef cuts are nothing fancy. Portions are on the smaller end.
The courses are:
- Yukhue
- Korean Sausage
- Bone marrow
- Short rib
- Hanger steak
- Galbi
- Dongchimi
- Seabass
- Skirt steak
- Tteokgalbi
- Wagyu sukiyaki
- Bibimbap
- Patbingsu
- Gaeseongjuk
Some notes on the courses:
- Appetizers are just alright. It doesn’t bring any excitement for the main courses.
- A little too much seasoning on the bone marrow; you can hardly taste the bone marrow itself.
- Seabass was surprisingly one of my favorites. Well balanced, as the flavor of the fish and porridge isn't overpowered by seasonings like some of the previous main courses.
- Skirt steak, tteokgalbi, sukiyaki, and bibimbap are delicious, but the soup that comes with bibimbap (gomtang) is a bit salty.
- Some reviews here mentioned having sashimi as palette cleanser. Unfortunately, there was none during my visit. The only palette cleanser I had was the 7th course on the menu, which is Dongchimi.
There is room for improvement on the prepping service as well, since there were a few things that happened:
- splashing salt and oil during grilling,
- flipped over one of the galbi and made a bit of a desperate attempt to fix it, and
- one broken yolk in the sukiyaki dish
Overall, this doesn’t feel like a beef omakase, but rather an Asian fusion tasting menu. I spent $680 after 20% service charge and tax for two people. I would be okay if they priced it at $150 per person, but this is not worth the food nor the service.
