NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY

Food is passably mid. Anyone with a palate knows where they cut corners. Considering the location I understand but I can’t tolerate it with soul food places. It’s offensive. Here’s the full story.

Arrived when they opened. Staff let us in 15 minutes early. Took everyone’s order in the order they arrived. Kitchen got going and the whole place turned into a hookah lounge not a restaurant. Which is funny because there’s vents all over the place. No idea why they weren’t working.

It was also cold in there. Just kind of uncomfortable.

I ordered the veggie plate. 3 sides 20 bucks. I’ll take it. Wanted cabbage. No cabbage… they just opened. And no cabbage. Server tried to bamboozle me and said “the cabbage went fast”they just opened. I’m not an idiot. So I ate around the green beans with the turkey bits in them.

Mac is of the creamy bland variety
Yams isn’t too sweet but the rue doesn’t keep all the way through and it feels like you’re just eating raw sweet potato at times.
Green beans are good though.

Won’t be back. Best of luck to them.

I have ordered from this place a few times. But this last visit.. I ordered baked chicken and macaroni and yams.. So after I paid 52.00 for two dinners the man tells me ain’t no more macaroni. I’m thinking why you didn’t tell me you didn’t have macaroni before I paid..he offered me string beans or spaghetti as a substitute.. I don’t like string beans and my husband doesn’t like spaghetti.. he didn’t offer anything else as a better compensation . he wrote on a card next time you get extra macaroni sir it won’t be a next time .. I understand food runs out. But to not accommodate me and have a poor attitude is crazy..

Fried fish, mac and cheese, and yams was delicious and fresh. Very good quality bursting with flavor

I was looking for some soul food so I asked my husband to stop in and order my son and I some food. When he arrived I opened the tray and this is the type of chicken I was greeted with. There were 3 normal sized wings that could have been cooked longer and then these 4 feathery overcooked tiny wings. I feel like it was intentional because what cook is purposely putting food out like this if they are not trying to ruin the owners business? I ordered an extra side of Mac and cheese for my son and they were two different textures. The one in the togo tray was dry and the one in the bowl had a better consistency. Definitely going to stop tipping before we see the final results because whoever put that food out did not deserve it.

Amazing soul food options

Great meal, really loved the salmon. I ordered on uber eats for pickup and the wait was not long. I would try this place again

Workers seemed like they were asleep and didnt want to be bothered. Food was decent but everything is like half way done... this place could be popping but the service isn't there.

I stopped by Bronzeville Soul Food for Thanksgiving this year, and I’m so glad I did. Angie — the owner — truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and full of that true community spirit.

The food was incredible — rich in flavor, well-prepared, and served with genuine care.

I really appreciated their service and the exceptional experience they provided during such a busy holiday. I’m already looking forward to catering with them again in the future.

The food was delicious accept for the greens I ask the cashier was it meat in the greens she said no but she did ask the cook got home what a disappointment there was meat in the greens not good at all im a vegetarian besides this everything else was good the owner was very polite and kind

The food was horrible I couldn’t even eat my meal . I got turkey wings a mac n yams was no flavor to anything half the chicken was brunt it wasn’t all turkeys wings they mixed turkey wings with regular baked chicken. Very disappointing.

I was taken there by a colleague from work and the food was flavorful and tasty. I got the fried catfish, fried corn and Mac cheese. The place clean including the bathroom which says a lot…. Highly recommend whether you dine in or out.
