Always busy but the line moves quickly. Second visit because I love their caramel cupcakes and red velvet the most. Cupcakes and pies as well as juices are available. Whole cakes and specialty cakes if Im not mistaken. Service always with a smile.

I want to thank you guys so much for going beyond for me this past Sunday, 9/22. I’m in love with your taffy apple cake and came an hour and half away from Indiana to get some for myself and a coworker, so she can be addicted too. When I made my order unfortunately there was none ready for the day. One of the girls working, both girls were great by the way, made a trip to the back no questions asked besides how many pieces I needed, and made sure I left with my taffy apple cake!! Also finally got to try the turtle cheesecake which is always sold out by the time I arrive and it did not disappoint!!! Thanks for your kindness, great customer service and the best cakes ever!!

Wow! I’m very happy (and worried) that I live so close to this amazing bakery. First visited yesterday, and we tried the caramel cupcake and the double chocolate cupcake. I honestly can’t decide which one was the best…because they were both *perfection*. The chocolate was rich and decadent and fluffy without being even a little bit dry (magic). The caramel frosting reminds me of a Werther’s Original…which is a very good thing, imo. Sweet and just the tiniest bit salty like all the very best caramels are. Paired with a perfectly executed yellow butter cake? Heaven. This morning when I had the rest for breakfast (listen…if people can have donuts for breakfast, I can have cupcakes), they were just as amazing. We all know that isn’t always the case for fresh baked goods, so I was definitely anticipating a different outcome. 12/10 recommend this place. It’s worth the drive/bus ride/walk all on its own, but it’s especially worth it when you know it’s got several other award winning restaurants nearby. Might I suggest popping over for a little treat while someone else holds a spot in line at Lem’s? My only complaint is that I can already hear the rest of the menu calling my name.

I go straight from the airport to Brown Sugar Bakery every time I visit Chicago! My friend knows to leave mee some space in the refrigerator for my treats. I take orders back to Detroit every trip!

This place was on my list to support as a tourist. I finally got the chance to stop by and try their Caramel Cake. I will say it was worth my travel; the Caramel Cake absolutely AMAZING but the customer service needs attention. As a patron you expect to be greeted when supporting any business and the workers seemed annoyed. I may not return because customer service is very important to me.

Great deserts! However, it's a shame how Brown Sugar will NOT answer the phone!!! ((even during the less busy hours)) I wish I could rate this a -1

Brown Sugar recently catered a Juneteenth event for my company. Mimi and the staff were helpful and friendly. Everyone raved about how good the caramel cupcakes were and someone even knew where we got the cupcakes from after the first bite. That speaks to the quality and standard the BSB has set!! Appreciate their business.

My first time walking into this bakery it was a great experience. The women were so friendly & helpful . The cake not only was beautiful but it was moistened and delicious . I would recommend 10/10 . My new favorite bakery . I’m in love with. Thank you so much ladies . My mom absolutely loved it.

This was my second time coming and was disappointed. I drove from the NW suburbs to come here. The first time was hit or miss but I enjoyed the carrot cheesecake and the turtle cheesecake. This time they were not in stock. I was there on the 23rd 30 mins after opening. I could’ve saved my $49 and went to the Cheesecake Factory for better service and quality.

Omgness, I ordered a nearly $80 caramel cake for my Christmas party, and it was the WORST cake I’ve ever had. Where do I even begin? First off, the caramel was a disaster- hard, overly sweet, and just plain awful. It reminded me of Goetze’s Old Fashioned Caramel Creams Candy, with the same overly sweet cream-like filling, except it was inside the cake 🤮.—It wasn’t smooth or rich; instead, it had the texture of cheap Goetze’s Old Fashioned Caramel Creams, but worse. Absolutely nauseating! 🤮
The cake itself was equally terrible. It was dry, dense, and tasted like cornbread—not a hint of the moist, fluffy texture you expect from a cake. This was hands-down the grossest cake I’ve ever had. It was dry cornbread with hard overly sweetened caramel.
I honestly don’t understand how this place has a 4.4-star rating—there’s no way it deserves it. For the price I paid, I could have bought a store-bought cake and had better results. No one at my party liked this cake—not one person. It was the only dessert leftover.
If I had known, I would have spent the money on 10 Pookie Crack Cakes instead. Their caramel is smooth, soft, and rich, and their cakes are always moist. In comparison, this cake’s caramel was stiff, hard, and dry. For $80, I feel completely ripped off. This place should not be in business serving cakes like this. What an absolute waste of money.
