Budacki's is a classic neighborhood stop for fast eats. It boasts a broad menu of comfort food, from Polish dogs Chicago-style to gyros and Korean fare. It's not a large or contemporary space, but around rush hour, you'll find it full of regulars from blue and white collar workers to young families and school kids. If you're visiting, there are other spots that do something similar. But if you're new to the neighborhood, be sure to make the trip, and you'll easily find yourself a regular too.

Kinda shitty to be over charging on pricey food. Been going for years and ordered Italian beef for my wife and mother in-law. If you ask for beef on the side and extra peppers it’s an additional $1.50 problem is they don’t tell you this and just charge you. Further more I just wanted two hot dogs she just adds fries end up with like four orders of fries when I just want one. Getting charged over $60 for a meal for 3 again absurd…..
Our neighborhood go-to! The Chicago dog is classic but I almost always have to get the Korean steak bowl. Super dense portion, perfect amount of spice when you add with the sauce that comes on the side. YUM.
Everything is great - especially the gyros and beef bow.

It's not just a fast food stand, it's a neighborhood tradition. With all the chain markets and brunch spots wiping out the old digs, Budacki's stands as a tribute to what was there before. The Budacki's were a couple of Polish descent that opened shop in the 70's and ran it until the 80's. Like others on here, I grew up on Bud's.
Current owner Mr. Lee worked for them and eventually bought the stand after they retired and continued their legacy of the quintessential Chicago Hot Dog; all beef Vienna with mustard, relish, pickle, tomatoes, chopped onion, sport peppers and celery salt on a perfect steamed bun. Their other menu items are just as good: bacon cheeseburgers, gyros, Italian beefs and even Korean Chicken wings.
The hot dog special won't break the bank either; at about $4 you get a dog, fresh fries and a can of soda or bottled water (I recommend a root beer). They even do double dogs. Best deal in town. The ever friendly Mr. Lee has two sons that sometimes work the back but they also have their own food venture with Crisp in Lakeview, Korean Fried Chicken that is just killer. Come and get a taste of the old neighborhood!
