$20 dollar cover on St. Patrick’s day for what? Just to get into a bar that is not offering any entertainment!? What a money grabbing scam! Stay away from this place.
Classic and fun sports bar. Great brunch. Usually crowded
. Have to see the train.

Fun and festive for Christmas. True Irish bar atmosphere, like the local hangout. Food was great, service was average. My only complaint is the bar is right next to the door. Chicago is cold in the winter and that cold rush of air is quite chilly every time the door opens.
Parking: I had to park 5 blocks away on a Tuesday afternoon.

I wish I could rate this place better but I can’t. I was denied inside service due to the fact that I have an identified service animal. I was told I had to stay out in their “patio” which didn’t have a table, heating, or lighting. Very disappointed in the fact that I wasn’t even able to order a drink with the rest of my group This is NOT an ADA friendly place.

They will try to trick ya with the digital 22% tip. Little pricey for an old pub overall.

Not welcoming or friendly at all. I was denied service inside by a very rude bouncer because I had a service animal.

I had an absolutely awful experience at Butch McGuire’s in Chicago. My boyfriend and his two friends, all of legal drinking age, tried to enter the bar, only to be rudely turned away by the bouncer. This was a tall, muscular, bald man in his 40s (clearly on a huge power trip) who refused them entry despite there being no line, them having valid IDs, and the bar being very open (almost empty inside).
When my boyfriend simply asked why they couldn't go in, this bouncer lost it and assaulted him. He grabbed my boyfriend by the neck, choked him, and even kicked him. My boyfriend lost his gold chain in the process. This kind of behaviour is not only completely unprofessional but also illegal. It’s horrifying that Butch McGuire’s would employ someone who treats customers this way and doesn’t know how to handle a job that involves basic human decency. You don't put your hands on customers, let alone young men.
If you want to feel safe and not worry about being assaulted by staff, go to a different bar who's bouncer's care about their customers safety instead of being wannabe tough guys. I would strongly urge anyone to avoid this place unless you're comfortable being the collateral damage of an insecure, angry man on a power trip.
Fun Irish ☘️ neighborhood bar that’s been around forever to grab an Irish Coffee and food for St Pat’s! I’ve been going since 1987.
