Cabra, perched atop The Hoxton in Chicago’s West Loop, offers a lively Peruvian-inspired escape with bold flavors that dance on the palate. The ceviche bursts with fresh citrus and seafood, while the lomo saltado delivers a perfect stir-fry harmony of tender beef, onions, and tomatoes over crispy fries—each bite a testament to Chef Stephanie Izard’s inventive twists on classics. Cocktails like the pisco punch add a tropical zing, though some dishes could use a touch more spice to fully ignite the senses.
The rooftop setting is a highlight, with vibrant decor, string lights, and panoramic city views creating an energetic yet relaxed vibe ideal for groups or dates. Service is attentive and enthusiastic, guiding diners through the menu with genuine recommendations, but waits can stretch during peak hours. Overall, Cabra earns its four stars for blending fun atmosphere with flavorful fare at reasonable prices, making it a go-to for elevated casual dining.

Good service, good food. We had guacamole, goat empinadas, and the crispy fried pork shank - all were excellent!

Brilliant per usual. Love this place and the food. It is a true go to for nights out even if I am not nearly cool enough to hang in the lobby bar.

Everything was delicious! Service was generally very good. The only reason I gave 4 stars was that our main server wasn't very attentive and she also pressured us to leave at the 1.5 hr mark.

Perfect for group dinners, good servings and not too loud.

The empanadas were my absolute favorite, very flaky, well seasoned goat filling and delicious sauce to go with it. The steak saltado and the salchipapaa were also really good, balanced with interesting flavors. The Shrimp Tacu Tacu was not our favorite but it was something new and interesting to try. We came for bunch but plan to come back for dinner!

Much of the food...duck salad, cerviche, halibut were quite sour...pork butt very good...portion big enough for two people to share

Highly recommend trying this Peruvian small plates restaurant! The price was reasonable, the atmosphere and vibes were amazing as well as the views. The food was AMAZING! The chicken skewers and spicy tuna were by far the best thing on the menu!

Everything was just okay overall. My friend and I came by on a Monday evening around 4 PM. We started with the avocado dip and empanadas (one chicken and one goat). The empanadas were definitely the highlight—flavorful, perfectly cooked, and easily the best part of our meal.

For entrées, I ordered the steak saltado and my friend had the halibut. The halibut leaned a bit on the spicier side, but it was seasoned well and cooked nicely. The steak saltado was decent but nothing particularly memorable.

The best part of the night, aside from the empanadas, was watching the sunset from our table—it really added to the atmosphere. They also offer a happy hour menu, which is definitely a plus.

Great food and views of the city. Tried many dishes and all were great. If you are vegetarian ask for specific menu that gives you even more options.

My only regret was that I didn't realize I had to ask for a “regular table” when I made my reservation. They wanted to seat us at a very short bar table right next to the host stand. Not a great table (no view and everyone walks by you) and also it was uncomfortable because I'm not a very tall person. We decided to just sit in the bar, which meant that there was no need to have a reservation. Other than that, we really like this place. Excellent food, and once we were seated then had excellent service. The ceviche is to die for and the goat empanadas are ridiculously good. This time we didn't have alcoholic beverages but the last time we came in, they were really fantastic. The bartenders are doing a fabulous job! We will definitely be back.

Even better, and more authentic, than I expected, we felt like we were back in Peru. I was hesitant to order the causa, but this somewhat deconstructed version was absolutely delicious and wonderfully varied. The Peruvian (French) toast for brunch, though, was mind-blowing. I've got to get the recipe for that bread!
