I came in a couple days ago with very high expectation as I had seen this place trending on my tiktok since their opening a couple months ago. I happened to just move into the Pilsen area and exploring coffee shops around the area! That day happened to be the day I crossed out Cafe Carranza out my list. I got their Banana Bread Latte along with an Horchata Iced Latte as those seemed to be their seasonal and SPECIALTY drinks. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.
1. They took 15-20 minutes to take two drinks out while it was slow inside the store
2.The coffee tasted old and not fresh at all. I am a big fan of coffee and have worked as a barista before, and by the taste of my lattes that day, they tasted bland, and a mix between acidic and under-extracted tasting espresso.
3. The horchata was very grainy and the syrups used in the banana bread latte had almost a liquor taste to it!:(
4. The customer service was horrible. Based on their tiktok I believe the manager, Francia took my order. She was a bit rude and seemed not to care at all about my order when I know she glimpsed over towards me a couple times until it was completed. The girls looked tired and like they just did not want to be there, and I received slow service.
5. They were and just seemed very unprofessional with the whole experience.

I ended up walking across the street to the next coffee shop on my list, Mi Corazon. Their lattes and coffee was 1000x more to my liking and I received quicker service despite them being a little more busy. I will unfortunately not be coming back to Cafe Carranza though:(.

I wanted to share my recent experience. The latte espresso shots appeared to be pre-made, and at no point did I observe a barista brewing fresh espresso from the machine. Additionally, the homemade syrups did not accurately reflect the flavors that were advertised or promoted.

The cold brew coffee tasted overly bitter and lacked the rich, consistent coffee flavor one would expect. I genuinely tried to give this location an opportunity, but unfortunately, the overall quality did not meet expectations.

As a result, we ended up discarding the drinks and purchasing coffee elsewhere. Moving forward, I will continue supporting the original Jumping Bean Cafe.

Amazing coffee.

Super cute little coffee shop in Pilsen. The art work and decor are perfect for conversation or relaxing. The staff was so friendly. Tons of tasty treats to compliment your caffeine injection. I will be coming back again and again.

The coffee here was so delicious but there’s no ventilation in the shop so it’s not really an ideal workspace.
The cashier was also a bit dismissive greeting her friends while I was ordering.

Sooo... I tried to give this coffee shop multiple chances. I love supporting small business, especially in my community. But, I went there one time as they opened cus I was about to start work. Mind you, I work early in the morning so my morning coffee is essential. I get there at 7am, and get told that the barista is gonna be another 15-25 minutes because they're running late. Extremely unprofessional. Do not work here if u can't be on time, especially a morning coffee shop.
Second! I am so sick of this establishment allowing none service dogs. It is such a health hazard especially with food and drinks being handled. This coffee shop is already small. Why are we allowing HUGE dogs in this establishment. I will be calling the health department because it has been several accidents of this. One time, i walked in and they had a huge pit bull sitting down with the owners as they were drinking coffee. No, it wasnt a service animal. Second, another time I went in there. This Caucasian lady brought her huge fluffy dog. It is one of them mountain dogs that sheds a lot and is huge. Brings him in there and he gets on the counter. Absolutely disgusting. Dogs have so many germs on them. Then the workers were encouraged it. You serve ppl their food there... no. Also, some ppl have a fear of dogs and not all dogs are friendly. So why are we still letting them in. Health department needs to be called asap. They also never have anything on their menu and are constantly in the process of changing it apparently. Also, I am a huge dog person and have raised dogs since I was 8 years old. So even I find that this place needs to be cleaner and stop letting none service animals in. Its is gross and I dont want my food to be handled by workers constantly petting these dogs and then getting on the counter. Please do better.

Super sweet staff that greet you as you walk in! I didn’t catch her name but the girl cashier at the front was super sweet. They had limited seating but I arrived at a good time to find seating for two.

I had an iced banana latte, and it was delicious! Tasted like real banana with sweet cream on top and sprinkles of cinnamon

Been here a few times. I've tried their iced and hot coffees. Their cafe de olla is not my style, both times I got it, its been bitter and not sweet at all. I don't know if that's just their way of making it. Their cheese bagels are what makes me come back. I keep buying them to share with my coworker's. They're just so good in the morning, I just wish they had a better coffee recipe. Its always empty when I've been there, but it does take a while for the ladies to get my order ready.
