I know their known for many other things, but they make the best bowl of oatmeal I've ever had! Oh my goodness it is delicious. I wish I could make oatmeal half as good as theirs. The interior is upscale yet comfortable, you might say it's a bit shabby chic.

Amazing sandwiches. Friendly staff! Since Covid, they've been doing a lot of charity fundraising for local non-profits like Brave Space Alliance and LGTBQ center El Rescate.

My favorite restaurant in the city. The atmosphere has a very authentic old school European/French feel and the menu is very creative. We love ordering new things and trying their seafood. The duck frites are divine and unforgettable. They are working hard to be safe and put everyone’s health first right now, so the service is different but hopefully it will go back to how it used to be one day.. keep it up! I love you guys.

I have been to this establishment before COVID and after and it's still just as delicious. We ordered to pick up burgers and fries and the pick up was so easy and it was so good. I can't wait to order again.

Food was good not great, good ideas with average execution. Service was bad with an attitude. Place needs a good cleaning!

Never eaten here, but I definitely will. Saw this quote in the eater, and I am in love with this owner, "Michael Simmons, the chef and owner of Cafe Marie-Jeanne in Humboldt Park told the Tribune that “we haven’t gotten anywhere with the disease. On top of that, there’s massive civil unrest because our government hates black people. So getting six people on a plexiglass patio is such a low priority for us right now.” Support socially conscious businesses!! Respect to Michael Simmons.

Pro tip: order the cheddar jalapeño biscuit before they run out! I've only been here once, for breakfast, pre the stay-at-home order, but I can't wait to go back. It does get quite busy but the service was fantastic and everything we ate was delicious. The grits were another standout item for me!

Whoa. Just ridiculously good. I had heard raves about this place - so when I moved two blocks away i had to go ASAP. Man do I not regret it. We got a cheddar biscuit, the duck frites, fried chicken liver, and calf brains. The service was fantastic and everything was melt in your mouth good. The calf brains though - i know some people aren't fans of this kind of texture but I promise you it's s must try. It's perfectly seasoned and balanced and i just want more of it - I'd eat it any day. The fried liver was crispy and tasted like it was just out of the fryer. The biscuit too.....wow. Honestly, this is one of my new favorite spots in all of chicago. Can't wait to go again.

It's a mixed bag. Service was good. Great coffee. Food was good. But value not there. Very expensive, small portions and all alla carte. Just not excited about returning.

We visited Café Marie Jeanne for a recent weeknight dinner. It was OK, but the menu didn't have a strong appeal for me. I'd say 2.5*. VIBE: Cozy, unpretentious, somewhat rustic dining room. A little dim. Noise was tolerable. SERVICE: Servers were helpful and courteous. Food was coursed and came out at just the right speed. The place was not busy, so that helped with smooth service, I'm sure. GOOD: Shaved apple-fennel was fresh and delicious, with a tasty dressing. A chocolate croissant was decent, though not in prime condition by the end of the day, of course. NOT AS GOOD: Roasted carrots were nicely presented, but seemed a little old. Grilled beets with bottarga were ho-hum. Steak frites were distinguished by the fresh, tasty frites - but they varied widely in crispness and were oversalted. The steak was just OK, and was served just above room temperature. There were five red wines by the glass at modest prices (for modest pours); an Italian negromaro/primitivo blend was tasty, two French varieties were so-so. I just didn't care for the menu - chalk it up to my limited palate? Most dishes just didn't appeal to me. Perhaps more adventurous eaters would experience it differently.
