Shady business practices lead to the stores’ suffering. The owner takes advantage of eager young workers and then doesn’t give them enough support, resulting in not enough consistent staff or supplies.

cafe food at this spot - excellent. Very filling. This place has a good design. Feeling here is like a restaurant in Fort Worth I liked.

It was closed when it was supposed to be open 😢 after spending $20 in transit to get there 😡

Cafe food and service here is quality. Entered near nine, it wasn't busy. The service here is better than most.

Great coffee, staff and aesthetics. I really enjoy the mocha and my friends always end up grabbing a Boba tea of some kind. It's high quality for a decent price and a good place to chat or study.

One of the nicest human beings to run a coffee stand. Coffee is great here too!

Great tasting coffee that is fresh and hot. The server is always nice and friendly not to mention quick when you are running to class. If not there is a bar area to sit and enjoy your coffee.

Love the Zebra. Really good and FRESHLY made cafe drinks. The attendant is always nice and asks what type of drink you prefer and recommends it to you for your taste. He knows his drinks, which I appreciate because I have a particular palette for espresso/coffee drinks. All drinks are reasonably priced and I would much rather prefer this specific location of Cafe Descartes over Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts any day.

Campus coffee mainstay that fueled my college career. The only other location is on Michigan avenue.

Reasonably priced coffee stand.

This is a nice pick-me-cafe located right near the SCE entrance doors into campus.

There is a Cafe Descartes located in Student Center East (SCE) (formerly known as Chicago Circle Center (CCC)). It is just a small cafe for carry out drinks. I was pleasantly surprised by the Mexican Hot Chocolate (or maybe it was called a Mexican Mocha). It was one of the better mocha drinks I have had so all you UIC chocholaholics looking for some hot chocolate with some cinnamon should lgo here. Just beware that this place closes at 6.
