Coffee was not bad but service was horrible! They knew it was my first time there as i apparently walked in the wrong side/door and It was like they were annoyed right away. They decided I could wait and took the order of 2 ppl that walked in after me first as they were regulars then when my coffee was ready they set it on the counter and didn't bother telling me that my coffee was ready as they were entertained talking to one of the regulars.

What a gem! I was going to UIC for an appointment and wanted to support a Latino business so I stopped here. I was shocked to see it has been here since 1994! It’s small, but there’s ample seating. Nice selection of coffee drinks with some nice traditional Mexican choices available. I only went for the iced coffee because they were sold out of the Iced Carmela, but the mollete I had was delicious! Service was friendly and pretty quick considering I was there at lunch time and there were lots of food orders. Highly recommended and definitely worth the trip!

Won’t be returning here because they do not give you what you ordered. Irdered a latte and received a very poor Café con Leche. A latte becomes a cafe con leche when you don’t texturize the milk properly. A latte is more money because it requires some skill to texturize the milk. The barista obviously did not know how to do this, but they’ll still charge you for a latte, which is almost double. This is disrespectful to the customer and false advertising.stick to the proper hipsters shops that charge the same price but actually deliver upon what they promise.

Was in Chicago for a Murder by Death show, and the airbnb host recommended this place. Ended up there 4 times in two days. The coffee was great (iced and hot) and the food was delicious. Everything is reasonably priced.
