Chicago is a big city, which means there are a lot more sandwich shops nearby. This one is not worth your time or money. I will no longer be going to this location due to the terrible customer service. I was there 20 minutes before closing and they wouldn’t make me the sandwich I wanted. I recommend that the manager looks into firing or retraining their staff on what it means when your store says it is “open”. This happened on 01MAR25 if the owner wants to look into who was working behind the counter that night.
(Huron location). False advertising of hours and menu.
The advertised hours for this business for Saturday state they close at 6:30pm. We arrived at 6pm and tried to order a meatball sub, which is on their posted menu. The employee informed us he would not make that sandwich as he already put the meatballs away. He confirmed they had meatballs and did not run out, but he just wouldn’t take them back out to make the sandwich - during their posted business hours. He also stated they close at 6:20 so they can be out of there by 6:30, so they are not actually open until 6:30.
If the posted menu is not available during business hours, they need to revise their menu.

After this we decided to only proceed with ordering 1 sub, the caprese. We got home and it was absolutely pathetic (see photos).
Our family has frequented this location many, many times and have spent a large sum of money here over the years. We have also recommended L’Appetito to our friends, co-workers, businesses, etc., and we will be informing them of this.
We will no longer be customers here.

This place used to be one of our favorites, but after this last visit, we’ll never be back. The outdated vibes used to feel charming, like a hidden gem with great food and service to make up for the decor. Not anymore. When my mom asked for a meatball sub — something we’ve ordered here before — the guy flat-out refused because he “already put the meatballs away.” Excuse me? You’re a restaurant. Making food is literally the job. Instead of offering a real solution, they slapped together the most pathetic excuse for a caprese sandwich we’ve ever seen — limp basil, sad tomato, and mozzarella that looked like it had been sitting out just as long as those meatballs. And they still charged full price like they were doing us a favor.
Between the rude, couldn’t-care-less attitude, food that felt like punishment, and the depressing, run-down atmosphere, it’s clear this place gave up a long time ago. It’s honestly heartbreaking to see how far it’s fallen. Save yourself the disappointment — even a gas station microwave burrito would be a better meal and a friendlier experience.

Totally disgusted - this used to be a great Chicago staple. Service has gone down IMMENSELY. We live two blocks away and stopped in at 6pm, 30 minutes before closing. The man working refused to make us what we ordered because “he already put it away” and was trying to be closed by 6:20 so he could leave. He then made us an alternate, and it was HORRIBLE. All he could offer was a caprese sandwich with very minimal ingredients. Truly disappointing from what was our favorite spot in the neighborhood. DO NOT come here looking for service or even the full menu, sometimes it seems they just want to leave early.

Horrible experience at a favorite spot. Went in for an order at 6:00pm on a Saturday. Restaurant closes at 6:30pm. Tried to order a meatball sandwich. Was told the meatballs had been put away for the day so that sandwich was not available. My daughter asked: “Did you mean you are out of meatballs?” She was told that the store had meatballs but they were put away because they were starting to clean up for the day so the crew could leave as soon as possible. Moral of this part of the story is don’t count on the full menu being available up until closing.
Just love places that place convenience for employees above service to customers.
This spot has been a family favorite for some time. No more. While I realize that this may be an outlier bad experience, I am sick of bad customer service that customers are supposed to just endure because it’s hard to find good employees…blah blah blah. Plenty of other options available all over Chicago.

Went to this location tonight 20 minutes before closing time for an Italian frappe and was told by the woman behind the counter that she would not make that drink. She tried to say it was too close to closing time but offered to make a latte instead. I declined because that’s not the drink I came for and I don’t understand why the requested drink could not be made. Seems like she was lazy and did not want to take to the time to make it, even though it does not take 20 minutes to make. Next time I’ll do a pick up order so an employee can’t refuse to make a drink just because they are anxious to leave. Mind you, there were still people inside the establishment and I’m sure they received their requested drinks.

For the location in Feinberg, women making my sandwich had an attitude problem. Decided to get a second sandwich 2 seconds after ordering, that triggered her attitude. What's wrong with people.

Barely any lunch meat 4 slices , tomato was all ends . Would not recommend Bari on Grand.and May has a better sandwich for the same price.

Used to be fresh. Now they serve old sloppy paninis Definitely Not fresh. I am used to healthy high-class food in California and Miami. This food explains why the majority of people in Chicago are so fat. Do they even care what they are putting into their body?

Coffee is excellent and the pesto egg sandwich bagel is amazing. Deli has a good selection and a cute market with additional goodies. Service was great and staff friendly. Outdoor patio is dog friendly which is a plus, Cash approved ?

I had ordered a panini sandwich first and was the last to be served. When I got my panini, it was very thin. They only gave me a thin slice of chicken. I paid 9 dollars for this sandwich. I was really disappointed and will not buy from there ever again. I was so angry that I had to write a review. They charge so much and give you so little.

So mediocre. Paninis were basically white bread slapped together with three seconds of heat. Cheese wasn't even melted. Pesto was completely left off the one. Cheap prices, cheaper quality ?
