Hidden little gem in the heart of the loop off of Michigan ave, really kind staff. The pros: this place has a dedicated vegan menu that tells you what’s in everything. My vegan pan con bistec honestly left a lot to be desired, very little flavor or seasoning, the sandwich is also very small for $15. The $17 plates are Much more food, I’d come back and try the salsichon platillo. Very good little grab-a-bite place, either to go or to eat in.

Not real Cuban food not sure why it is advertised as such .

Too much chicken, making it awkward to eat and imbalanced. It tastes too strongly of chicken and the other flavors only sometimes leak through. It's also a bit dry - probably chicken breast. It would benefit from using dark meat, or maybe being butterflied, but I suppose it may be more of a diet sandwich.

I was super excited to have Hispanic food in the city, but lowkey disappointed. It’s advertised as Cuban, but it feels more like general Latin American. First time, I got the steak sandwich + cafe con leche —solid. Second time, I tried the vaca frita, but it was basically just chopped grilled steak and the rice was bland. Also… what kind of Cuban spot doesn’t serve croquetas or pastelitos? Service wasn’t great either—asked what drinks they had and the girl just pointed at the fridge. Definitely gonna check out other small business Latin spots instead.

The service is friendly from the girls who serve. The flavor is rich, because it is Latin. The only thing is that the prices are not that cheap, but it is a good cafeteria

Disrespectful employees. My order came without napkins which is fine. Before asking for such I double checked my bag. I was then greeted with a condescending “there should have been napkins in your bag.” Very helpful, thanks.

Customer Support

As a local small business in Chicago we love to explore and support other local small businesses and we couldn’t be happier we found Cafecito! From the moment you walk In there was a warm energy, amazing smells, and welcoming music. The cafe con leche was incredible as well at the ropa vieja plate! Growing up as a Cuban American myself it reminded me of my home cooked meals I grew up. We already cannot wait to be back to visit. Thank you for giving our city of Chicago such an amazing local spot for amazing Cuban food. We will see you all again!
Sincerely

Great Cuban food. I don’t go into the city a lot, but I’ve been to this place a couple of times and they never disappoint.

Service is horrible. Came in to order one Cubano sandwich, I was ahead of 8 people. They gave those 8 their order first. Some were even eating the Cubano sandwich. They blamed the kitchen for it. Really?

I was so excited to try the Ropa Vieja pressed sandwich… however, the meat was a bit raw and the taste was not right. The seasoning is not all that good, which is really important when it comes to making Ropa Vieja. The Ropa vieja was more on the sweeter side than the savory side. All in all, a first time bad experience.

I love this little Cuban lunch spot. It is not very big, but they have a great list of cubanos and other sandwiches. You can also get a platter. The service is friendly, and the sandwiches were quite good!
