I had this once in 2024 and it was so good. I live over an hour away so I haven’t gotten the chance to visit it until today. The food was weird this time. No seasoning on the palomilla sandwich I had to drown it in sauce when I got home. The soup was ok, a little bland but the bread was good. Our waitress was pretty rude. The blonde with the curls. Older lady. Very sour face and blunt. Not happy to be there at all. I had to go look for her when I needed the check because she ignored us for so long. Idk if we’ll be back.
Was just a place we happened to stop by for breakfast and it BLEW us away. Was so flavorful and had a good price. We came back the next day for breakfast 🍳 and it was amazing once again. Will RETURNN! The cafecito con leche and the regular cafecito was so flavorful with our meal so make sure to get it when you come. If you want something good that won't let you down, COME HERE!!

Great food. However, the tip options they show you on the machine are based on the total, not the subtotal, which is shady. Also, all the plates are plastic, which are a microplastic risk, especially when you're griding metal forks and knives into them.

Excellent Restaurant.
Portions were large, food cooked and seasoned perfectly, and Mojiotos were top notch.
Staff were friendly and attentive as well. All around good experience and would definitely return again when in the area.

Cute and cozy spot. We came in for a coffee and hot chocolate. This was the BEST chocolate I’ve ever had! Seriously, delicious!

Always a joy to go to Cafecito. I would legitimately go here every day if I could because their food and café con leche are so delicious and feel so comforting.

I really wanted to like this place but, unfortunately, seasoning appears to be in short supply here.
Croquetta to start- they were huge which we thought would be a plus, but the filling was really dry.
I ordered Lechón, and got no flavor in the dish even though there was supposedly mojo in the dish. How you make Mojo that tastes like nothing is beyond me but was somehow accomplished here.
My partner ordered Ropa Vieja, which was dry, not seasoned well, and came with mushy rice. The way that it was plated, it looked like the ropa Vieja came out of a bag.
The Cuban Bread didn’t even taste right. It’s disappointing that this is Chicagos best available representation of Cuban cuisine.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I ordered ropa vieja and it look like straight up dog food out of a can and extremely dry. I also ordered yucca and it was just potato’s fried, not real yucca and had hair in it. This was not real Cuban at all.
