We got coffee and the Vegan Pan Con Bistec Sandwich. It was excellent. Would highly recommend. They have a Vegan Specialty section of the menu with different vegan sandwiches and plates.
We loved our experience here so much that we came back the next day :)
The coffee was exceptional and our lovely server, Daniela, helped us order it less sweet (which I'd defintely recommend).
The food is prepared perfectly. We tried black bean soup, the steak breakfast sandwich, the pobrecito plate, and ropa vieja. All were delicious. Order a side of house made hot sauce and mojo!

Great place, but perennially understaffed. Management should stop skimping on a dedicated waiter so the guy manning the front counter doesn't have to do everything
Edit: Listen, management. This is the best/only good café in the neighborhood and it's getting increasingly slammed. You are UN. DER. STAFFED. Stop cutting corners.

Super cozy and cute cafe. We opted to sit inside and the lighting just set the mood. We had the cafecito pitcher and some sandwiches. Recommend the chorizo and chimichurri one.

We were starving, and it was 90° out, but we still decided to take the 30-minute walk to this location—and we were not disappointed.
There were so many tempting options on the menu that it was hard to choose just one, but we were all very satisfied with our meals. The portions were generous—especially for the price, considering we were in the middle of Chicago—and the food came out quickly.
I also tried the cortado, my go-to drink, and was reminded that Cuban coffee tends to be sweeter than what I’m used to. It wasn’t a problem, but I would have liked to know beforehand because the first sip was a bit of a surprise. Delicious nonetheless!
My only small critique is that our server wasn’t quite as attentive as I would have liked. We didn’t get a water refill until about three-quarters of the way through our meal. That said, they were friendly, and I suspect there may have been a shift change at the time, so I’ll give them some grace.
Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a more local joint to try in the city. There’s a wide variety of options, so even the pickiest eaters are sure to find something they’ll enjoy.

We walked in and we were sat in a booth. It wasn’t until 20 minutes later we had to get up and wave someone down to come take our order. They did not check up on us and the food was mid. Did not refill water or ask if we needed anything. They need a better system when it comes to checking on people. There are other better spots out there to try!

Unable to get in. Very poor and rude service

Take out … service was fast and the food reflected it. I ordered a cubano and a side of maduros. Maduros were well cooked but the cuban was meh at best. It presented like it was prepared quickly - the innards were dry. Barely any mustard the cheese was sparse and the pickles were sliced so thin I could barely detect them.
I tossed more than 1/2 of it. The dinings space inside and outdoor patio gave a warm vibe but on my way out i saw a lot of half eaten plates. Not sure if that was attributable to generous portions or also mid execution.
