Château Carbide Reviews
Hands down the best hotel experience I’ve had thus far in life. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Chicago now! I will be sure to book here next time I’m downtown. Special shoutout to Nina (unfortunately that’s the only name I remember, but everyone deserves their own shout out). She was so so kind and thoughtful. Château Carbide, situated atop the Pendry hotel, offers a unique atmosphere with stunning views, especially at sunset, making it a popular spot for date nights and special occasions. The restaurant features a variety of food and drinks, with the baked cheese with fig jam remaining a popular highlight. Guests often praise the quality of the food, drinks, and friendly servers who try to be accommodating. The building's historic charm adds to the overall experience, though some reviews mention that the service can be inconsistent and the ambiance sometimes lacks overall comfort.
Recent visitors noted organizational issues, such as confusion about indoor and outdoor reservations, with some guests being moved indoors unexpectedly despite requesting outdoor seating. Fire pits were often unlit or required adjustment, and the outdoor space could feel windy and cold, especially with multiple people. Additionally, there were concerns about the limited cocktail menu, which some found to lack variety, and the short selection of drinks. The rooftop, while a creative idea, did not fully meet expectations and sometimes struggled with lighting and overall setup. Yet, the staff’s effort to provide good service was appreciated, even if the overall experience occasionally fell short.
