Charmers Cafe has atmosphere in abundance.
From the moment you walk in, the space wraps around you. Ornate ceilings, warm lighting, plants reaching toward the patterned tiles above, and those brilliant swing chairs that add a playful edge without feeling gimmicky. It is funky in the best sense. Creative, relaxed and full of personality.
The environment is genuinely beautiful. A place where you can sit with a laptop, meet a friend, or just take five minutes to look up at the ceiling and appreciate the details. There is care in the design and it shows.
Service was warm and attentive without hovering. You feel welcomed rather than processed.
And the coffee is top notch. Rich, balanced and clearly made by people who take pride in what they serve. Not an afterthought to the decor. The standard matches the setting.
This is the kind of cafe that makes you want to come back, not just for caffeine, but for the feeling of the place itself.
A proper windy city standout.

I genuinely love this cafe. The atmosphere is great, and the drinks and food are consistently delicious. It’s a place I want to keep coming back to.
That said, we’ve visited five times now, and on three of those visits, part of our order was forgotten. That’s more than half the time, which is concerning. What’s especially frustrating is that it hasn’t been isolated to one area - it’s happened at different points in the process. On one visit, the barista forgot one of our drinks. On another, the kitchen missed two of our meals. Most recently, the cashier never put in our toasted bagel. Each time, we’ve had to go back up and ask about missing items.
I truly enjoy this cafe, but at this point I don’t feel confident that we’ll receive everything we ordered unless we double-check. It seems like there may be a breakdown in how orders are tracked or communicated between staff, especially since different team members were involved each time.
I’m sharing this because I really do like this place and want it to succeed. I hope management can look into the order process so the overall experience matches the quality of the food and atmosphere.

The music selection was one great song after another. I'll come back for the soundtrack alone.

Great coffee
I had the most delightful experience the other morning felt so welcomed and I got everything I wanted. The bagel with cream cheese my favorite is always sesame they were ou but I got plain and it was toasted to perfection so good I also order vanilla ice cream and a peanut butter banana smoothie for my husband. Thank you Charmers. Lived the Halloween 👻 decor.

I try to set meetings here so I can go enjoy the friendly vibe and outdoor seating! The owners are wonderful women who generously give back to the community. I’m a big fan of their iced vanilla latte and the amazing baked goods they make in house.
Super dog friendly patio, with an outdoor order window.

Used to love this place and have since had several negative experiences, including a barista who knowingly watched me being sexually harassed and ignored me and wouldn’t take my order (which could’ve at least helped distract from the situation)

Very cute, friendly place on a quiet corner in Rogers Park. Delicious food and coffee, lots of shady outdoor seating surrounded by plants.

The servers are very personable and friendly! They went above and beyond with customer service and were kind enough to give us a grilled cheese on the house after we messed up our order. Definitely will be coming back! Lovely atmosphere, great music, just incredible service all around!

Great coffee, great seating (indoor and outdoor), and solid breakfast sandwiches. Love spending time here, the surrounding plants and pedestrian street make for a nice ambiance. Dog friendly outside.

Not worth the price
I really wanted to like Charmers Cafe — it’s got a nice, cozy vibe, and the service is great. But honestly, it’s way too expensive for what you get. I ordered a 20-ounce hot mocha, which I love, but the flavor was just okay. The worst part was that the cup was only half full with coffee, the rest was just foam. I understand foam is part of the drink, but I’ve been to other places where you actually get what you pay for.
In the end, I spent over $40 on a sandwich with extra charges for fries and that mocha that ended up being more like 8 ounces of coffee. It just wasn’t worth it. I went because I’d heard good things, and yes, the place is pretty, and the service is nice, but I really wish the food and drinks matched the price.
