Chef has so much passion! Much love! Merci!

At Lyceé Market, Didier was rude and clearly prejudiced against customers of color. Very disrespectful and only apologized when a white customer also complained about his behavior. The organizers of the market should find another vendor next year, so ALL paying customers are made to feel welcome. If you don’t want to interact with different people, don’t sign up as a vendor.

The chef of the dearly departed Cyrano’s and other places still keeps his hands in various ventures, from private catering to a phenomenal annual tour of his home region in SW France. If you see any restaurant that he is consulting with, or see his booth at farmer’s markets from Hyde Park to Logan Square, get your hands on anything— it’ll amaze you. Especially the incredible mousse, mushroom bisque, coq au vin, cassoulet, goat cheese bites… you get the idea.

I brought home the garlic baguette and mushroom tomato sauce today, both fresh, full of flavor, and incredible. Chef Didier himself was friendly and gracious, a pleasure to chat with.
