We got: -sichuan zajiang noodles with stewed peas (very flavorful, lots of umami, not very spicy, the stewed peas are fun) -clear broth wonton noodle soup (pretty standard but good) -ye er ba (the dumpling texture is mochi-like which is super fun, the filling inside is very flavorful which is a great surprise)
Chinese cuisine in Chicago generally has disappointed me many times but Chengdu Bistro surpassed my expecation this time!

Deliciously chewy noodles with a variety of flavorful broth's. I order the Clear Broth Ground Noodle Soup with a side of their housemade numbing spice, and is was delectable!

We learned that we're not fans of Sichuan pepper, so while many of the dishes we ordered looked delicious and well prepared, we found that ultimately they weren't for us. Xiao long bao were great! The kitchen was really busy, so we got things after a really long time and in an unexpected order. Overall, we liked the place but we're too hungry for the wait and ordered the wrong dishes.

Definitely a popular spot so make sure to book a table before you go! Otherwise wait times can be pretty long, especially for larger groups. But because of our reservation we didn’t have to wait at all :) the food was quite good as well, I really enjoyed the soup dumplings. Because of how busy it is though, it can be a little loud and the tables can feel a little cramped but the restaurant itself is nice and the staff is attentive as well.
I was curious about this place as it’s always busy! It was an easy walk to get to and got a seat right away without a reservation. They have a decent menu of classics and new things to try. It was a little tricky to identify how some of the things were prepared. I got a pork dumpling that had a harder piece of meat in it that surprised me to be honest, but otherwise the flavor was good. The other pork buns were spicy but flavorful and good. I tried the pear drink and it was also tasty and refreshing! The server was very nice and made it easy to take our order. It’s super loud in the restaurant and hard to talk if you’re dining with others.

I was coming down with a cold and needed a good spicy soup so I started searching restaurants nearby me. This place caught my attention and I went in one night after work. I got the spicy beef ramen and it was shockingly delicious!! The meat was cooked nice and well, like they knew how I liked it cooked ! I even got some tea with honey and it was great! And they also let you pick the size of your Ramen noodles, which is so nice! I barely got a photo cause I started eating away!
