A wonderful French restaurant for which we travel over an hour to dine. So worth it, however, sadly this was its final night of service. We have had many, many wonderful dinners and wines there over the past years. Seafood entrees were always my favorites. Husband enjoyed the duck and steak and frittes. Reviewing it seems unnecessary as to its closing, but it was one of the best!!! So happy to have been a part of the many wonderful dinners and times there.

Chez Moi has been our "go-to" for years, with family, friends and out of town guests. The food is always good, and the service personable. We were heartbroken when Chef Dom unexpectedly passed away, and further saddened to learn that the restaurant would close after April 1. We will miss them. Au revoir, my friends.

What a great experience! The Duck A L'Orange breast was airy tender with am outstanding combination of flavors. The french onion soup was rich and savory and almost sweet from the caramelized onions, the amount of cheese was just right so it melted completely, and instead of a white bread toast I believe this one had a piece of rye bread that added a delicious edge. We also had a lobster bisque with crabmeat - smooth and buttery, the mussels were "just right" which is an understatement as they were cooked perfectly and all the flavors were perfectly balanced and blended. We could not stop ourselves and finished a cream brûlée and rum bread pudding - so good. It's easy to guess that we loved the food, the space, and the service. The place is not cheap but the prices are very reasonable for that quality of food. Cheaper than flying to Paris on a Saturday night, right?

This is our new favorite French restaurant in Chicago! The mussels were excellent, the steak tartare was the best and the cassoulet was just WONDERFUL. We are very sad to find out that it is closing on 4/1/23.

Recommended for a good quality restaurant experience at a reasonable cost.Location: the dining room is nicely decorated and warm. Friendly service.Price: the price-quality ratio is reasonable, we spent $140 in two people ordering 2 appetizers, 2 entrée, and 2 desserts.Food: We loved the beef bourguignon and the onion soup. The frog legs were chewy, the duck was served with too much sauce that made the overall flavor off balance and overly sweet. Thumbs up to the desserts (profiterole and crème brulée).

Great food, very good service. Really enjoyed my meal, the onion tarte was delicious. I had the steak and frites and the fries were the best I've had with steak and frites. Too bad they are closing soon. Great restaurant!

Adieu

There is no nicer person than the sole remaining owner! He was so kind, helpful and considerate in aiding with a member of our party who has mobility issues. My friends and I have always enjoyed the food and ambiance of this spot, and are so saddened that it will shortly close. The loss of the chef, owner and partner has been tragic on so many levels. Thank you for yesterday's outstanding helpfulness, caring spirit, and the amazing food, wonderful memories and awesome staff! I sincerely wish you the very best. Will search everywhere, but it is doubtful I will find another quiche as wonderful! Go asap and enjoy this one final time before April 1!

My son & his girlfriend recommended your restaurant so we went to celebrate a birthday and was very satisfied with the food, service, etc. We ordered 3 appetizers and 4 different dinners....all of which were outstanding! We will definitely be returning.

Nice ambiance. Decent cocktails. BRIE EN CROÛTE FOR TWO as an appetizer was excellent. Coq au Vin had a nice presentation, but was awkward to eat, a bit too saucy. The noodles made it a pasta dish. The flavor was bland to non-existent. COQUILLES ST JACQUES was unexpectedly cheesy (a strange companion to seafood) and the polenta was way too salty.

We were so excited for a rare Monday night out and ended with a disappointing experience. Our server was nice but quite inexperienced (Alayna?) and while we appreciate everyone has to start somewhere, she needs gentle coaching (note: asked if we wanted dessert before we ordered entrees, didn't tell us about specials until we ordered entrees (which included an appetizer special). Then there was the food: Bread was sad, butter was ice cold and not spreadable. Onion soup was bland, escargot was meh, our salads were a half a small handful of lettuce and blandly seasoned dressing. Beef bourguignon was burnt on one edge and very fatty, duck cassoulet was meh. Chocolate mousse, cocktails and wines by the glass were standouts. Have eaten at the bar many times before and had a good experience but tonight... I wish we would have spent our hard earned $250 elsewhere. Seems to have gone downhill since Chef Dominique passed away which was already heartbreaking.

Everything was perfect for our last dinner at Chez Moi: the delicious and authentic French food, the attentive, friendly service, and the inviting design and ambience. There were 6 in our group and we enjoyed a variety of dishes—boeuf bourguignon, canard à l'orange, coquille St Jacques, among others. They were superb, as was the wonderful selection of desserts, including crème brûlée, tarte tatin, bread pudding. The wine list included a fine selection of moderately-priced, popular French wines. We enjoyed our dinners immensely and are grateful we had this final chance to experience the truly amazing cuisine of the late French chef Dominique Tougne.

Lovely restaurant! Food and service are top notch. Highly recommended. Truly sorry to hear that the owner/ chef Dominique Tougne had passed. He was a very nice man. My son had been in a play with his kids many years ago and I feel for them.
