I got the chicken tinga from their taco truck today and love it so much that I drove from the northwest suburbs to visit their physical store just to try out another selection from the menu. 10/10 would come back again.

The service was great first and foremost. As for the food. It has to be the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The meat was so overcooked that it was hard and black. To make it worse. Their fries was so undercooked. They were still hard and cold. This place was such a let down. I threw it all away it was so bad.

Tacos were ok nothing to really brag about picked up our order first time getting tacos from here they were cold when we picked them too for pickup and only was 4 mins from them and was kinda expensive for tacos

Owner was very welcoming while taking my order and since it was my first time I was able to spin a wheel and win a free elote ❤️ The surf and turf tacos were also delicious !

A man by the name of Apple was literally the coolest person I've ever met. The steak tacos we're a 6/5. A little pricey but they make up for it with quality and quantity. I'll definitely be back ? bravo CTA!

Chicago Taco Authority has a lot of potential, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First off, the menu on Google Maps isn't up-to-date, so expect prices to be higher than what you might see online. The location is in a great area, and the restaurant itself is clean both inside and out. The decor is fantastic, really leaning into the subway station theme, which extends even to their bathrooms with super dim lights for ambiance.

My husband and I ordered the carne asada and chicken tinga tacos along with drinks. As Latinos, we noticed a few things that were a bit off. The tacos are on the smaller side, especially considering the price—over $5 for a chicken tinga taco and over $4 for a carne asada taco. It’s not your typical Mexican restaurant; they don’t serve lemon wedges with the tacos, nor do they offer chips and salsa while you wait. However, they do provide small salsas with your order.

Taste-wise, the chicken tinga tacos were delicious, but the carne asada was a bit bland, which was disappointing given the price. It could have been an off day, but for what we paid, we expected more flavor. On the bright side, the staff is great, and they even have a fun “spin the wheel” game where you can win a free item.

Overall, it’s a decent spot with some cool features, but the food didn’t quite live up to our expectations, especially for the price.
