I love this place! It’s really one of the few Thai places where I eat and don’t feel like crap afterwards. Food is consistently delicious and prices are reasonable. I went in one night to order and take home and it was rainy and cold outside. While I sat and waited the nice man at the front brought me out some tea that warmed me up. It’s was such a kind hospitable gesture. This has been my favorite go to Thai place and I recommend them highly! Thai basil chicken, orange chicken, and the udon are favorites.

Legitimate thai place with traditional dishes. My favorites are chive dumpling, khor moo young, tum thai (papaya salad), kao krapad gai (ground chicken basil sana the bell pepper). All very tasty and satisfying.

Chim Thai is my go-to takeout! It’s delicious and affordable. I also have celiac disease and they are knowledgeable about allergens and ingredients. I can even get dishes like pad see eiw with gluten free sauce.
Very nice! Great soups with that gooooood garlic lemon grass ginger knockout combo!!
Delicious options and spacious seating. Loved having a solo meal here!

A True Neighborhood Gem - Authentic Thai Beyond the Usual
Most Thai restaurants in Chicago stick to the beaten path with standard curries, noodles, and appetizers, but Chim Thai is refreshingly different, and we absolutely love it!
Their menu is expansive and full of specialties that you won't find elsewhere. Start with their incredible papaya salads - as authentic as they come, with varied flavors and ingredients that showcase the real diversity of Thai cuisine.
The curries are all amazing, and we're especially obsessed with their duck curry. The noodle soups are truly special too - generous portions bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors that transport you straight to Thailand.
Their appetizer selection is impressively rich, featuring everything from classics like Tiger Cry to various homemade sausages prepared in both Thai and Vietnamese styles. Don't miss their special menu either, which includes standout dishes like pork belly and other regional specialties that really set them apart.
If you're ordering takeout, do this wonderful restaurant a favor and call them directly instead of using delivery apps - that way they don't lose 30% of their hard-earned money to those platforms. Better yet, dine in! The space is nice and modern, perfect for exploring their incredible menu.
Chim Thai is a true gem of Albany Park, and we're still discovering new specialties every time we visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic Thai cuisine that goes beyond the ordinary.

We ordered fried rice and pad Thai , and tiger cry .

Our meal was quite affordable but felt like a watered-down version of Thai food. All the flavors were there but severely lacked intensity. Every dish needed more salt, heat, and acid. The food ended up tasting vaguely sweet and bland. Moreover, the nam tok and pad kee mao had none of their signature smokiness. The beef in the namtok was sliced quite thin, tough, and chewy. Overall, I found Chim Thai barely passable but with so many better Thai spots in the city, I probably won’t be back.
Maybe the dine in experience is better but we’ve ordered pad see ew (one with chicken, one tofu) from here twice and the portions are disappointingly small and the food is oily. Usually, I can have leftovers the next day from an order from other places but not here. The chicken is dry. The flavor is just ok.
