Stopped by Recess on a Saturday afternoon with a friend. We grabbed a couple of brunch items: the Huevos Rancheros and the Berry Mascarpone Stuffed French Toast, along with a Bottomless Mimosa. The patio is a vibe—huge, colorful, and perfect for people-watching. Food was decent; the French toast was sweet and fluffy, but the Huevos Rancheros needed more kick. Service was a bit slow, but the atmosphere made up for it. Overall, a fun spot for a casual hang, but not a must-visit.

Love this place. We needed a last minute reservation for a big group and the staff was super helpful and accommodating. Chicago is notorious for rude door staff, but the guys at Recess were super friendly, we never had to chase down our server, and the drinks and food were delicious.

Had two reservations for 10 and we called twice to make sure they would allow our guests to split bills. They said we could just pay at bar and that didn't make sense to us because how would the waitress make money? So We called a few days later they said no we have to order from our waitress because of the reason we said. And that we would be able to split checks. Great! Well, the end of the night we are only allowed to split it two ways as you can imagine how stressful...
