El Cocula has kinda become the spot I come to for special occasions. It’s always the same, nice and quiet, that Mexican hacienda vibe, and sometimes the live mariachi walking around the tables just makes it feel even better.

I went with the bistec a la mexicana… oh man, I haven’t had that in a really long time. Skirt steak simmered in a mild tomato sauce, with the bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The steak itself was juicy and tender, not tough at all,...
Steak were cooked twice the dryness affected flavor. Corn tortilla not made in house. BREADED SHRIMP very dry. Beans were tasted americanized. Mixed drinks were made very well. Servers were quick and friendly. Plenty of free parking. Need help on food quality has dropped in recent years likely cooking to fast and reheating meats.
I do like this Restaurant but not quite the location is my favorite Commercial and Calumet city are my favorite locations and their food taste a lot better but I love that they have party trays that will feed large amount of people for a good price.
