Maybe it's the weather, maybe I'm spoiled but I really didn't feel like the food was extra wow and the atmosphere was quiet, there was a mariachi trio and they did sing 2 songs for us. They are independent from the restaurant so their fee was $75! Luckily, we have a money tree in our back yard, not. So, be prepared to pay for a serenata!!
El Cocula has kinda become the spot I come to for special occasions. It’s always the same, nice and quiet, that Mexican hacienda vibe, and sometimes the live mariachi walking around the tables just makes it feel even better.

I went with the bistec a la mexicana… oh man, I haven’t had that in a really long time. Skirt steak simmered in a mild tomato sauce, with the bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The steak itself was juicy and tender, not tough at all,...
Steak were cooked twice the dryness affected flavor. Corn tortilla not made in house. BREADED SHRIMP very dry. Beans were tasted americanized. Mixed drinks were made very well. Servers were quick and friendly. Plenty of free parking. Need help on food quality has dropped in recent years likely cooking to fast and reheating meats.
