I drove 2.5 hours to come here thinking it was going to be similar to the Diavola from Pizzana, Bottega Louie or Jon and Vinny’s in LA but it wasn’t. Diavola was ok very different recipe.
Food quality is good, service is attentive and friendly, and a nice atmosphere.

food was great and service was amazing. reasonable price for a nice special occasion dinner if you have a bit of a budget. my only gripe is i wish they had a little more options for sides besides salads. maybe a roasted veggie or something would be nice. food was amazing and our server was awesome

I had a great experience overall, though the food could have been better. I visited for Valentine’s Day and ordered the Pork Milanese based on the server’s recommendation, but unfortunately, it was overly salty.
On the other hand, the grilled octopus was a standout dish. Instead of the traditional presentation, they combined it with other ingredients, making it look more like a salad. The mix of flavors was unexpected but worked beautifully, making it a delightful surprise!

The place is ok
Do not order the octopus
There was only like 5 bites of octopus and the rest of the dish was alk mixed vegetables to hide the fact that there was not much octopus

Overall, an ok experience. The service was friendly so I must give credit where it's due.
The food is decent, but feels quite expensive for the portion and quality received. I ordered the spaghetti pomodoro with burrata and it was fine, but not worth the $20 I paid for it. I did enjoy the tiramisu.
The ambience was a bit of a let down. There's something almost suburban and cookie cutter about the dining space, reminiscent of a Cheesecake Factory or a more upscale Olive Garden. It feels like a design agency was hired to make the restaurant as conventionally appealing to the upper middle class, mid-to-late 30's crowd. The words "plasticky" and "soulless" come to mind.
I would give Coda three stars overall. Not a bad experience by any means, but not a standout for me.

One of the best pizzas in Chicago. The marinara pizza seems simple, but is so tasty. I added sausage to mine.
Finding Menabrea Bionda on tap was a nice plus.

We ate on the patio and brought our dog. The service was beyond great. The food was the best outside of Italy we have ever had. Nothing less than amazing. We decided to make an afternoon of it and tasted everything we could and shared. Nothing was less than perfect. We highly recommend the true Napoli style pizza. We sampled 2. The meatball sub was crazy good and very generous in portion. We really loved the caccio di pepe was light and balanced perfectly. I don't think I can eat pasta anywhere else again. The Italian chopped salad had plenty of artichoke and amazing olives. We didn't add protein but will next time. We stayed for cappuccino and dessert. Based on the season we had the caramel apple Gelato and apple crostada. Both were good but we prefer the Gelato. We will be their new best customers.

I just saw a delivery driver drop all the food on the ground and an employee helped him put everything back in the boxes. What!?! That’s not cool.

Good crowd pleaser spot! The arancini is very yummy and the atmosphere is vibrant. Was served old tuna, which was also a small portion for the price - they did take it off the bill, should be taken off of the menu. The pesto pasta I found slightly inconsistent between the first and second time I ordered.

Absolutely loved this place! Tried it for the first time this weekend and dined in on their patio since we had some nice weather- i was very pleasantly surprised for going in with zero expectations! We ordered the Arancini and Meatballs to start, Cacio e Pepe, and the Prosciutto Arugula Pizza.. everything was amazing! The quality, the flavor, and the ambiance mixed together made for a perfect experience! I will be returning very soon!

Walk in dinner no reservation, sat at the bar. Had the tuna crudo, a bit spicy-soupy for me. Enjoyed the Chicken Diavola, great flavor and friend enjoyed a pasta dish all with a couple bottles of wine. Service was excellent, woman at the bar tries too hard…
Multiple seating areas at bar and booths, tables. Accessible rest areas.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner here. Service, food, and atmosphere were wonderful! My boyfriend had mentioned it was my birthday on the reservation & they wrote, “Happy Birthday, Emma!” on our menu—a hospitality detail that didn’t go unnoticed! We’ll be back for sure.
This is the best pizza place in town, by far! The service was excelent, very nice bartender, but the bar back, Refugio is on fire! He anticipated our needs before we expressed it. Extremely impressed with his service, friendliness and professionalism at the same time. Thank you for an amazing experience.
