I wish I could give this place a higher rating. However, since Colectivo launched its own app to order coffee, the in person service has become TERRIBLE. I've gone in multiple times when the physical space is almost empty, there is no one ahead of me in line to order and only 2-3 people waiting for a drink, and nevertheless waiting 15+ minutes for my coffee. In fact, I would have waited more than 20 minutes each time if it wasn't for asking about my order.
The simple truth is they prioritize app orders. It does not matter if there are 10 people ordering in the app, and won't show up for 20 minutes, their coffee will be made before yours.
This was one of my favorite coffee spots in the city, but I have regretted each of my recent visits.
Edit: I have to agree with the other posts about a few rude (male) baristas.

Waited ONE HOUR for a small latte. Barista was upset that I inquired about my drink after waiting for 35 minutes….
I wanted to write this review as somebody who used to work at this location. Upper management is very uncaring and does not advocate for their employees. One of my coworkers and friends who was the only black woman there was fired for attendance issues when she was hospitalized and grieving the loss of a close friend. They 100% targeted her, while allowing a middle aged white woman to stay hired after repeatedly leaving her shifts early and yelling at customers and employees. They are racist and out of touch with the humanity in their employees. They do not view us as full human beings with lives and feelings and relationships and obligations outside of this billion dollar corporation. They see us as little worker mules who's lives literally revolve around this coffee shop and have no other obligations, traumas, medical issues, etc.
If you come here, come for the employees. They are wonderful and you should tip them generously because they work hard, make amazing drinks and food, and are very under appreciated. Some of the best people I have ever worked with and they will make sure your food and drinks are made wonderfully. <3

It's such a cute place and the staff are nice. But the drinks are never great and internet is super slow.

Spent a weekend in the area for an artist market, so stopped here for coffee and a quick breakfast both days. The employees were very kind and incredibly efficient, as it was very busy both days I came in. Coffee was good, but my breakfast sandwich that I ordered to go had an egg on it that was still cold.

Well, if you are a white American, you might like it. Judging the place by their coffee alone, it's good. If we consider service and how they treat you, they are a -5/5 ? Maybe your experience has been different. However, I have been here a couple of times since I moved 4 months ago to the neighborhood, and on both occasions, they have made me feel horrible as soon as I tell them my hispanic name. Today I almost picked up someone else's order because they ordered the same thing and the girl handing out the coffee looked at me and told me "That's for #name !" implying I was trying to steal it or something. I've been in the city 9 years and I have never felt discriminated against until I went to this place. So, when it comes to their product and lotion, it's awesome. The people that work there are either the rudest people in Chicago or they are just flat out racist. Never going back. There are better coffee spots with waaaaay better service. Skip this one if you are a minority.

The coffee is pretty good. Almond croissants are pretty good. Nut muffin was meh. Can sit outside with your dog. They open at 6:30am which is great.

I recently visited Collectivo Coffee and was quite disappointed. Despite the appealing aesthetics and high praise, the experience fell flat. The food portions were significantly smaller than advertised on the website, leaving me unsatisfied. To make matters worse, the flavor of the dishes was bland and reminiscent of grass, which is not what I expected. It felt as though the place prioritizes style over substance, with prices that are far too high for the small, unsatisfactory servings. Overall, Collectivo Coffee seems more focused on pretension than delivering quality food.

I recently visited this spot that seems to be trying too hard to be trendy and exotic, with a focus on Latin cuisine that ultimately fell flat. The place exudes a pretentious vibe, but the food was a major letdown. It felt like a half-hearted attempt at Latino flavors, with dishes that were bland and unremarkable. The fusion concept seemed more like a misstep than an innovation, and the overall experience was underwhelming. It’s clear that style is prioritized over substance here, resulting in a disappointing breakfast that didn't justify the hype or the price + food cold

There is a very rude barista it’s a guy with wavy light brown hair makes me never want to go here again he’s always very rude and as soon as you see him it ruins the whole vibe cause you know he’s going to be rude
Tables are so wobbly they won't hold cup of coffee when you set them down.
