NOTICE: ABSOLUTE WORSE STAFF AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!Hands down the WORST experience I have ever had at a coffee shop. I went in to the Andersonville location and ordered an Oatmeal, a side of bacon and a small coffee from a very pleasant and inviting gentleman. I paid and tipped.I went to the condiments bar to see if they had honey for a sweetener and they didn't have any out. So I stood back in line and was waiting my turn in line to be assisted to ask for honey. There was a man working behind the counter who saw me looking at the workers. One of them was a very rude African American man who gives me the side eye and asked what I want. I asked for honey for a sweetener and he said rudely "It should be out there." I went back to the condiment bar to see if I over looked it. I did not as there was none, only Simple Syrup and granulated sugar. I returned to the counter and he put down a cup of honey and I said "Thank you, I appreciate you."I then went to a table and was looking for a water station. The same African man came from behind the counter to place a "To Go" drink on their pick up shelves, and I stopped him and asked if they have a water station. He gave me a dirty look and with a nasty attitude said "It's Right THERE!" looking over at two "bar taps" on the condiment station. I was looking for a jug/tank of water and had no idea that was their water station having been a new customer. I just stood there in shock that this was the reaction to a very simple and non-offensive question. After I got my water I went over and kindly asked him if he was having a bad morning or if I did something to offend him.He copped more of his nasty bad attitude with me, unwarranted, and continues to berate me in from of customers saying, and I quote: "You were standing there starring at me over there and then you just ask me random questions!!" First off: It's YOUR JOB TO ASSIST CUSTOMERS! 2. I expressed it was one of the first times I had been there (I was only in the day before for the first time and so I returned for the second time - big mistake). I also stated that I didn't know about the water. I had to explain to him that I was not staring at him but standing there waiting to be acknowledged so that I could ask for honey and water. I looked at everyone behind the counter as one would do to show they need acknowledgment and assistance. It IS the social norm to engage in eye contact with people when you are in need of acknowledgment and customer service. I was smiling the entire time. Then I asked if this is seriously how he speaks to customers. He just turned away in a huff to go about his work and was talking more trash to co-workers about me.This person needs some serious training in customer service and what is customary when a customer needs assistance; as well this man should not be in a customer facing role. Period. He was extremely rude, aggressive and abusive to what could have been a daily customer with a morning breakfast/coffee budget of $15 a day (Food/Beverage + Tip)So add it up: $15 x 5 x 4 = $300 a month that I WOULD and COULD have likely gladly spent there had this Azz Hat not been there and berated me in from of customers for ZERO reason.Get some customer service training! Get a better attitude! Get better staff! So unprofessional and unwarranted. The food and coffee were decent but absolutely not worth being treated like that for. I honestly can't believe a person like that has a job at such a seemingly friendly and upbeat atmosphere.I will NEVER patronize another Collectivo Coffee, anywhere, because if this is how they are allowed to treat customers, and new customers at that, I don't need that drama and bad energy in my morning routine.NOTICE: 5 star reviews without commentary are FAKE REVIEWS to bolster status and to diminish actual reviews with detailed accounts of products and service. Likely friends and employees giving generic reviews to help themselves.

Good coffee shop to do work, and meet up with work friends. Like Panera but better.

I always love the coffee and service here to begin with. A colleague left behind 2 smoothies this morning and I was fully prepared to buy them again. The crew today just remade them in no time. Thank you so much!

Very cute coffee shop but stuff is very loud, first time seeing stuff so annoyingly laughing, impossible to focus.

One of my other go to places in Andersonville when I want to work at a cafe. The food and coffee are always solid, given that it's a chain, but I find that the vibes aren't as immaculate as the Evanston one bc of the lack of seating? It's always crowded and the seats are nearly all wood and not very comfy. It's like they only want you to stay for an hour haha I do like Colectivo so I'll keep patroning but mostly on a timed visit

Well. There are many cool cafes around. I wanted to try here this time. I will not come back. The service there employees are I am sorry but something needs to check out to change. I ordered two coffees with my friend and a croissant. The cashier asked name for our coffee we both gave him our name. We waited our coffees first but just my friend coffee came. But later we found he just added one person name on our coffees. We both thought different same name persons coffee. And we had to find which is whose. The cashier kept chatting his coworkers. He was not interested in how our orders go. After we figured out our coffee we waited another time to get my croissant. Never comes. I went and asked when my croissant would come. He said “Oh, I am sorry. I didn’t give it you”. Then he didn’t even asked for warming the croissant. Just tossed it me. What? It was chocolate croissant. It supposed to be warm for nicely warm melted chocolate croissant. Very disappointed he is not interested in his job at all. He just asked me adding tips. For what? Since I started to discover cafes. This was the worst cafe so far. Never be back. I am sure this business is not intended in the customer service.

I used to hang out and study at the original Alterra location off of Prospect. I remember frequenting their second location off of Humboldt in River West, too. But like everything in Chicago, the hipsters sank their fangs into Colectivo’s vitality, its essence, its spirit and drained it listless. I now associate Colectivo with pissy employee attitudes, dissatisfaction, and immediate regret.

Delicious coffee. Tasty pastries. Narrow entrance. Cute decor. Live plants. Swag available. Friendly staff. Chill vibes. Ideal for studying and quiet conversations. Limited inside seating available. Outside seating available.
