Food was pretty good. Rather pricey, but that's a given being that it's located in The Drake. My only gripe is the waitstaff. I was treated horribly, not even given the time of day, was even given a check that I couldn't write down my room number on to charge it to the room. And when I told Ernesto that I was going to be charging to my room, he instantly perked up, gave me a smile and suddenly treated me as if I belonged there the whole time. It's unfortunate that a younger couple would be treated like this. Mind you, we were wearing business casual attire and fit right in with everyone else, so it's not like we looked like we couldn't afford the food.

Traveled to Chicago on business. Tried this place as it's an historical landmark, being the 2nd place in Chicago to serve alcohol after Prohibition ended.
It's a nice place, but steak, mashed potatoes and a beer cost $62. The steak was overcooked. It was ok but I wouldn't go back.

A typical place with a chic and relaxed atmosphere, a must-have in Chicago. Simple food is elegant and sophisticated. The service is friendly and very attentive with a typical American warmth. A musical evening with a crooner singing standards from the 40s/50s/60s provided a very pleasant moment of immersion in the chic and intimate square of the Coq d'Or. Place to absolutely do!

Very great night until the end when the staff and managers started rushing us out right at close. Tried to finish a sentence with the group and immediately was reminded to leave, like we’re working on it. Give me a second.

I’ve never felt like a Chicago resident more than I have when dining here. You enter into the establishment and find an open seat that best fits you and your party. The servers come and find you and they are the most friendly crew you’ll ever meet at a bar/restaurant. I watched many connections be made just by people coming and sitting at the bar. The food was phenomenal. The wings were big and filled with flavor. I could’ve eaten the whipped mashed potatoes by themselves. The benefit to staying in the hotel (The Drake) you can dine here and charge it to your room. Makes it convenient if you are in town on busy and need to charge your company for meals. I will be back to get more of the mashed potatoes and wings!

Stopped in for a night cap. Busy night but the server was helpful and courteous. We saw a previous drink offering when looking online at the menu, which they had since taken off. They had no problem making it for us which was very nice.A very nice step back in time as far as the atmosphere goes.

Only had a cocktail that was good, I believe it was a bit overpriced but you are in the Gold Coast area so.... The service was great and had a cosy old school feel.

Great food in general, but especially excellent dessert! Had the most rich, delicious cheesecake. The atmosphere here is also delightfully moody and intimate.

Coq d'Or serves a local and tourist crowd. The vibe is old-school hotel bar. Last night was a local night. Fairly quiet, attentive service, good food. We had crabcakes (excellent), tacos (a little less good than last visit), and an enormous grilled mahi mahi salad (definitely for sharing). Great cocktails and nice selection of wines by the glass. Service can be slow and ocassionally the same menu items are quite different than other visits. It is always busy during the holidays and when there is a convention in town. Worth the trip for a little old-school Chicago feel.
