Sooooooooo good!! Seriously can’t wait to go back. The beer selections are fun and the food is CRAZY good. Totally destroyed the vada pav sliders. The cheese?! Killer. Everyone was super nice and you can get some drinks to take home. Seriously try some cheese.

The duck and dumplings was superb! Great selection of small plates like roasted broccolini and frisee apple salad too. The strawberry basil beer was surprisingly great too.

4/5 for service. We have gone twice now. First time sitting in dining room and service was poor. Sat at the bar the second time, service was much better.

I was shocked how good the food is! Probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The duck dumplings and smoked ricotta were absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

Cultivate by Forbidden Root is so wonderful! The food is inventive, delicious, and offers a great array of options. The beers and so good, I never know what to choose but I love the 5 ounce pours so I can try a few! The space is comfortable and spacious. Highly recommend putting this wonderful place on your list!

You're greeted by the warm, inviting smell of wood smoke, which makes everything feel comfortable and welcoming. The space is HUGE, so we've always gotten a table without waiting. It's a good brewery - Hoodie Weather is my favorite, it's like the atmosphere of the whole place in beverage form - but it's also so much more than that! The food is excellent - usually in the warm, savory, and grilled category, but I've had memorable desserts, too. The spirit list is expansive - I usually end up getting beer because, again, it's a brewery - but I've seen several items I know aren't easy to find. If you're thinking about it, just go here. There's something for everyone!

My husband and I had such a gorgeous lunch at Cultivate by Forbidden Root. The space is airy, handsome and cosy. We loved th big comfy booths and the service was absolutely flawless. My meal was delicious too: I enjoyed the Cauliflower Soup - made with Black Garlic, Chili Crunch and Fried Leeks - and could have eaten gallons of it! The Carrot cake served with coffee ice cream, burnt honey and candied carrots was very good. I also really enjoyed trying a Mini Carlo shot - Bourbon, Benedictine, Orange Bitters. Great value for quality ingredients. Highly recommended.

The interior is great, the service was good, and I may go back for an actual meal another time, but as a self-proclaimed "brewpub" the bar snacks are just bad. You have...popcorn? olives? ritz crackers?? I'm just not understanding how this would become a place I'd grab a beer with friends if I can't order something simple and delicious without committing to a whole dinner or lunch experience. The cheese board was dissapointing for $23. They were small pieces that looked microwaved/heated halfway with some toasted bread chips. The rest of the menu looked great so definitely try it if you're looking for a meal, bu to fail on easy, approchable appetizers is a shame (they do not actually have an appetizer section). Anyways this is basically a nice restaurant with bold, flavor-rich beers on tap. In this case you also have to be in the mood for peak craft beer intensity of the early 2010s to enjoy it, so be prepared for big fruit notes and overwhelming hazy IPAs.

Cultivate is a great local spot within the Ravenswood neighborhood! This has become a new staple and it's a restaurant by Forbidden Root which is one of my favorites. We always have a wonderful experience whenever we dine here and the service is always on point. The space and decor is eclectic, they even have a throwback decor- lava lamps. The beer and drink menu have tons to choose from and I usually select the house flight because I love their draft beer selections and it changes seasonally. For the food, there are two standout winners that I would highly recommend for everyone to try. The Forbidden Root Burger sits on top of my list. I love the smash patty, giardiniera mayo, and white American cheese. On Mondays, they have the burger special where you get the burger, fries, shot of bourbon, and 16oz beer for only $14 for a single or $17 for a double, which is a steal! Another must try is the duck & dumplings, which has duck confit, ricotta gnocchi, mirepoix, duck jus, and crispy duck skin and is just delectable. This is mostly the two dishes we always order but have also tried other seasonal dishes they've offered. I have yet to try their desserts but one day I will make room for them with my meal. They have happy hours from Monday to Friday where you get the bar snacks for half off and $10 for the Cultivate house flight. I'm such a fan of Cultivate and highly recommend for everyone to try. They have formulated all the things I look for in a brewery- unique food & drinks, and great service.
