A friend and I visited on a Saturday morning and only waited about 5 minutes to be seated, which was great. The host was friendly, and there’s a bar area you can sit at as well—though I’m not sure if the bar has a different menu. I noticed a few cute cocktails that caught my eye, but I wasn’t offered a cocktail menu, which was a bit disappointing.
As for the food, absolutely 10 out of 10. I had the fried green tomatoes, fried catfish with a side of grits, and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. I’d definitely come back for the food alone.
My only critique is the service. While the server wasn’t rude, he wasn’t particularly friendly or attentive either. I understand there may be many reasons behind that, but I do wish the service had matched the quality of the food. Stronger customer service would have really elevated the whole experience.

Had my monthly breakfast with the crew, and we Dawn for this month's breakfast.
First of all, the service was incredible. We had a young man named Raheem, who was professional, knowledgeable, and honest! He suggestions made ordering very easy. We even met the owner, who was very personable and helpful. The food was good, and I know Ill be back to visit again soon.

I remember coming to Dawn a few times when they first opened and the food was pretty good and fresh but my most recent visit left me disappointed. I ordered the fish with a side of greens and Mac. Let me be clear in saying these are not the Greens they had before, they are now serving doctored up Glory greens that comes in a can. The Mac and Cheese is also not the same Mac that they had before, its bland and taste like Kraft Delux boxed Mac. The fish was ok but could have been seasoned better. I hope they can get back to the original recipes that really tasted good.
We went on a Saturday and it was crowded, but we had a 12:00 p.m. reservation. I suggest if you go around this time, have a reservation. We were seated at noon and our waitress immediately greeted us. The customer service was great. We ordered fried green tomatoes for the appetizers and they were good. As our entree, we ordered fried catfish and macaroni and cheese and greens as our sides. The food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious. Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend Dawn Eatery. We will be back.
Parking is a little challenging, but a couple of circles around the block we found spaces available in close proximity. I think there is a free parking lot near. May want to inquire about that.

Really cute place
My friend and I came here for a late lunch, we had delicious drinks and a good, hearty meal. My friend had the Roast with Jalapeño Grits and I had the Cajun Cobb Salad. Both were amazing and super filling. Our server, Jacob, was especially kind and personable! He made the experience fun plus, it was nice chatting with him about the neighborhood and learning more and more about Chicago :) 10/10 would recommend!!!!

We had a wonderful Sunday brunch here. The staff who greeted us was attentive and gave us an accurate wait time of about 30 minutes. We actually were seated a little sooner because we ate outside. The food was delicious. Our server was on point. It should be obvious that if you go somewhere during a busy time and you have no reservation then you will have to wait a bit so I don't understand some reviews complaining about wait time. They also have vegan waffles that my child who has a dairy allergy loved.

I’m visiting from out of state for my birthday, and I have to say, the food here was pleasantly good, especially after experiencing some not-so-great meals at other restaurants during my trip. From the moment we were greeted to the time our food arrived, every staff member was friendly and welcoming.
Jacob, in particular, was exceptionally awesome! He was personable, knowledgeable, and truly attentive to his guests. He made the experience feel special—he was perfect! If only he could be cloned!

Very good and great quality food. Had an issue, but the staff did not hesitate for a moment when the issue arised. That's the type of business I don't mind patronizing.

The cinnamon roll you can tell was freshly baked. the salmon croquettes has a Cajun sauce was 10/10 sooo delicious, I will be back to try other dishes.

We visited Dawn in June while in Chicago for the weekend. Sitting at the bar, TeJuna gave us one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. I have never felt that way about a breakfast experience. His attention to detail, conversation, and genuine hospitality made us feel like regulars from the start. He mixed me the best cocktail of my life, even offering to remake it if I wasn’t blown away (I was!).
The food matched the service the pot roast with jalapeño cheese grits was unforgettable, with the kind of unique complexity and generous portions that left me satisfied for days. Between the welcoming vibe, outstanding menu, and TeJuna’s remarkable care, Dawn A.M. is a place I’d come back to in a heartbeat.
