Solid spot tucked inside the Canopy by Hilton. Grabbed the Depot 226 Burger, juicy Angus beef with caramelized onions and Fontina, plus a side of fries. Set me back about $18. The vibe's chill, kind of a retro café feel. Service was friendly, though the wait was a tad longer than expected. Great for a laid-back meal downtown.

Depot 226 is a gem in the heart of the Loop! The vibe is upscale yet cozy, perfect for a night out or a special dinner. I went for the grilled octopus ($18) to start, followed by the pan-seared salmon ($24)—both were on point. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and you could tell the ingredients were top quality. Service was friendly, and they had a great selection of craft cocktails (I got the Old Fashioned ($14)). I ended up spending around $60 including drinks, which felt totally worth it for the experience. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for fresh, elevated dishes without the fuss!

Super food! Had some misgivings about having seafood so far away from my native state of Maine- but this was absolutely perfect! Two gentlemen at the bar took care of bar service and tables ordering food, they did it with efficiency and friendliness!

Not recommended! We ordered hummus, pasta with mushrooms, salad, roasted potatoes, and roasted vegetables. Unfortunately, the soup we ordered never arrived, despite being paid for. The pasta was overly spicy and lacked flavor, and the roasted vegetables were disappointingly subpar. The service was also below par; the person taking our order seemed unfriendly and deliberately withheld our change, even after leaving a tip. This experience was unexpected and disappointing.

As a general rule, I try to avoid eating in a hotel restaurant; they rarely meet expectations. But this one was fantastic. The focaccia and egg white sandwich was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had.

My visit to 226 Depot had some mixed moments. The brownie cake was a bit heavy and too sweet, maybe overdone, and that extra chocolate sauce seemed unnecessary. However, I'm curious to give their flan a shot; it looked fresh. On the bright side, the service was outstanding, and the setting in the Canopy lobby was simply lovely.

Depot 226 is in the lobby of Hilton Canopy. Actually, it's hard to discern where the lobby ends and the restaurant starts. When you walk through the front door of the hotel, you see the restaurant kitchen to the left and the bar to the right. To the far right is a small nook with the check in desk. The front desk agent gave a heads up on how long food was served and when room service ended each day. The first night I ordered an Italian Grinder. The cheese on top was great, but beef inside was not the best. The bottom of the roll was soggy and fell apart. I did not enjoy the sandwich. The next night I sat at the bar and had a neat pour of Woodford Reserve Bourbon. I did not enjoy the employee interactions. The guest agent was not friendly at all when telling me about the restaurant. The two ladies behind the kitchen making the food were short and rude when I asked how this worked. I finally got to the bar where I was able to place my food order. He was a nice guy, but it wasn't enough to overcome the front desk and cook team.

We stayed in the adjoining Garden Inn by Hilton and you can walk through to this restaurant. It’s open all day as a coffee shop and opens at 4:00 p.m. in the bar portion. Great group of people work here. On the night of April 16th, the cook person was one of the hardest workers around. Service was fast, food is a little foo foo, but not over the top. Desserts are fantastic. Furniture is comfortable. Pictures of the “L” and trains are awesome. Really topped off a great weekend, away from the rain and snow. We came back the next day and found it great a second time.

Me and my girlfriend had a late night dinner here and was very pleased with the food and service. Our waiter was very friendly and professional. We both got a burger with tater tots and some chicken wings as an app. The tator tots are a MUST try.

I ordered the salmon and broccolini based on a recommendation from the bartender. When I say this meal slapped, it SLAPPED. I got it to go and it was still delicious. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with lemon and a dill sauce on the side. I would've tried getting it again for lunch the next day if I had a later flight. If you’re in the loop, definitely try this place.
