Every time we are in Chicago we make a trip on the Blue line to eat at Dove's. Soooo gooood!!
The cocktails are delicious (hello gin pineapple agua fresca!), the meals all have a creative twist, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I recommend the burnt ends brisket dish, the fried chicken and peas, or the Ceasar salad with a sunny side up egg. The portions are big and we rarely finish our meals...leftovers!!! Woohoo!
They always spin good tunes and have a fantastic selection of tequila and mezcal. It can be quite busy but the turnover of tables usually isn't too bad. Plus it's super convenient right off the Blue line.
Can't recommend Dove's Luncheonette enough!!

I will dream of the mole maple syrup that comes with the masa pancakes. Best place I ate in chicago. Portions are big, great place to go and share so you can try more of the menu. Can’t wait to come back!

Really enjoyed the experience here :) I had the burnt ends hash and it was probably one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I ordered with corn tortillas instead of toast because I can’t have gluten, and the tortillas were incredible. Our server was also very helpful with directing me to menu items that could be accommodated to be gluten free!

A retro diner with Mexican fusion dishes. The fried chicken and potato hashes are done quite well here. The portions are also generous and dishes are reasonably priced.
The Burnt Ends Hash is the most popular dish here but I preferred the Chicken Fried Chicken - it was nice and crispy. The hash didn’t end up having as much brisket as I had hoped.
Seating is communal and mainly consists of bar and window seating. You can expect to be sitting beside strangers. Interior is unique with retro features and they play music with vinyl records which is cute.
The staff are friendly and are knowledgeable about the menu. They seem to be friends with the locals that come here.

Great people-watching in their outdoor (sidewalk) seating. The brisket hash & eggs was excellent with tons of tender brisket, small cheesy? potato wedges, and a light chipotle sauce that added a little bit of zing. Add an iced coffee and it was a perfect Sunday brunch.
