Good brewery and taproom, lots of craft beer on tap. Plenty of seats inside and out. Staff friendly

Great brewery, very traditional European beers, all are very good. They have one of the best brewery tours around. Also, two great street festivals every year.

Great European style beers in a great environment. They are always working with community partners and hosting awesome events.

Went for holiday market, staff was rude. I Paid $9 for the 8oz tripel, it came out half foam, once it settled I asked if they would mind topping it off(true 8oz) they said no we like our foam here.. OK bye,

To their response- So again it is was my bad.. It's just principal.
I'm a local, I brought my fam to drink eat and shop, instead we left after half a beer. Never again

Lucked into this brewery after an event and being underwhelmed at another brewery. Great selection of European style beers with traditional methods. I was only able to try a few after visiting the aforementioned establishment, but I was suitably impressed and absolutely intrigued by the vast styles (not just same beers with additives as is so often seen). The Rauchbier was a standout, though. Best I’ve had outside of Europe. Really well balanced and subtle flavors. Service at the bar was okay, if a bit indifferent to a newcomer.

I have to add something about the oyster vender (sadly forgot the name)- WOW!! Fresh, delicious oysters and great sauces!! I think we had 3 orders, repeatedly devouring and going back for another order. My guy was proud of his offerings and truly enjoyed seeing our enthusiasm for his passion. I want to return for the beers, but would go back just for the oysters.

Incredible beer from a highly skilled and dedicated team. Amazing atmosphere and events, and a true anchor for community. My forever favorite! ♥️

Really nice brewery. Super chill and easy. Loved the book event upstairs.

Mediocre beers. Least favorite brewery of all I’ve been to in Chicago. The two beers I had tasted like medicine or chemicals.

Fantastic little brewery. Great German and Czech beers and the people couldn't be more friendly. Stopped in randomly while in town and had a great time! Highly recommend.

I was really disappointed to see Dovetail Brewery host and promote culturally appropriation events of Mahjong and charge such a high preminum. Mahjong is not just a “trendy game night” — it is a centuries-old tradition deeply rooted in Chinese culture, with rich meaning in community, family, and heritage. By advertising “American Mahjong 101” as a novelty experience with a steep price tag ($81.88), it felt like the cultural depth was erased, rebranded for a Western audience, and then commercialized.

As the hosting venue, Dovetail Brewery bears responsibility here. Partnering in and marketing this kind of event without clear acknowledgment of Mahjong’s cultural origins, or without including authentic voices from the Chinese community, comes across as cultural appropriation. It’s taking from a living culture, stripping it of context, and selling it back for profit.

I expected better judgment from a local brewery that otherwise presents itself as community-minded. I hope Dovetail will reflect on this and be more careful about the kinds of events they choose to platform in the future.

Dovetail Brewery is a great spot for beer lovers who appreciate traditional European-style brewing. Their selection is always fresh, with standout lagers, hefeweizens, and sours that show real craftsmanship. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, perfect for hanging out with friends or trying a flight. A must-visit for anyone who enjoys quality craft beer.

One of my favorite breweries in Chicago, we make a point to come here everytime we visit Chicago but really felt unwelcomed tonight. As a restaurant worker myself, it’s crazy they let staff make people feel unwelcomed in this establishment when the guests are paying the bills.
