This place used to be my favorite ramen spot, now they’re under new management. Bring back the sushi and take the pickled whatever out of the ramen. The chicken karage isn’t even crunchy it’s soggy. This place was awesome when Simon was working, it’s not the same anymore. They added bolba to the menu and think that makes this place better. It’s unfortunate but I won’t be coming back, I have to find a new ramen spot.
*** so I came back to edit this review because I realized, they labeled our ramen wrong so my wife had my ramen labeled as hers and vice versa. Another reason why I definitely won’t be coming back. Huge disappointment

I ordered the Garlic Lover's ramen, and was not disappointed in the garlicky goodness. The music was appalling, but no offense meant because I only listen to terrible jam bands.

We ordered combo 1 and combo 6 for three people and it was more than enough. The food is fresh and prepared at the time you order. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is very good. The prices are reasonable.
I definitely recommend it and hope to return soon.

Really good food. Everything is prepared at the moment you order, most of the things are made from scratch. Very fresh everything and excellent presentation. The place is spotless and the service is very friendly and attentive. Family and kids friendly!

I've been coming to this spot for a few years now and ordering the same thing, the Tokyo Curry bowl but this alongside several other items have been modified and I cant deny i dislike the new changes to the menu and will likely not return for a long time. Regardless the dishes are still well prepared so if you have not been here before you will likely enjoy what you order.

E Ramen remains a favorite of mine despite trying several ramen places all over Chicago! I've been to places with a wide range of price points, different levels of marketing and advertised food quality, and I will say that E Ramen really gets a lot of the basics (but key factors) completely right, and focus on what counts! They serve excellent ramen, with high quality broth, decent noodle selections, and ingredients at an excellent price point. They don't have any flashiness that tends to drive up costs at far more expensive ramen places, but you will leave this place totally satisfied whether you are dining in or taking out, and I have so many fond memories of bringing friends from out of town here and even going on multiple dates with my now wife. They did temporarily close and I was honestly worried it might be permanent, but I am very glad to see that they have re-opened, and I can once again get take out for glorious at-home date nights, or late work nights, or just getting lunch at work if I forgot. I have always had the most pleasant experience with take-out especially since they package everything with extreme care, so all ingredients stay fresh and intact until I combine everything at home to enjoy. I sincerely look forward to many more years of ordering and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent bowl or ramen in the Bridgeport neighborhood. If I ever move away, I will still come here to get ramen, it is that good. Thank you for feeding our community with such great food!
EDIT 7/10/2025: I just ordered again yesterday and for sure the recipes have changed, my normal favorites Original Tonkotsu, Garlic Lovers, and the Karaage Chicken are totally different from before and significantly saltier than before. The Karaage fried coating's texture is not as crispy and also saltier, the meat is still juicy. The pork belly in the ramen itself is generously portioned still, but the meat itself was a bit tougher than previously. The broth was also good still, but not as creamy as the previous broth. I definitely like the old recipes much better, I'm not sure what exactly changed, but I would still recommend this place without hesitation. If there is anything that can be done to prepare the food like before that would be great! I'll still be coming back.

The owners changed and the dish I've ordered for years (Spicy Umami Miso) is totally different. I won't be ordering it again. My son still enjoyed his usual dish, the chicken wonton ramen.

I used to absolutely love this place! Hands down my favorite restaurant. Food was always consistent so I would stop by often. Unfortunately, I believe they were bought out or switched management. I returned after it was closed for a while and I was disappointed with the food. 5 stars for the old E-Ramen. Don't think ill be returning any time soon.

I used to like the food, but I guess it has changed ownership since the last time I have been there. The people are very friendly and they updated the seating nicely. The downside was the food. I we had fried gyoza and chicken kaarage. The gyoza tasted like it was just bought from a store and the kaarage wasn't like real kaarage. It was more like a chicken cutlet and it tasted like they fried it in funnel cake batter and was way to salty. Take this review with a grain of salt though because I just really enjoyed the restaurant before they got the new owners

I have such fond memories of catching up with my friends at E Ramen—their ramen and fried chicken were always a real highlight. I was disappointed when they closed for a while, but I’m so glad to see them open again. The food is just as delicious as I remember, and the staff are as friendly and welcoming as ever. My friends and family are already looking forward to our next visit. I’d definitely give it a perfect 10 out of 10!

E Ramen is one of my favorite local restaurants! I’ve been here a few times and each time is consistently delicious. I visited a few weeks ago and the restaurant looked closed. Then, I recently tried to visit again and the restaurant appears to be closed down? Though, the google hours still show the restaurant as being open. I hope it re-opens if it is closed down!

This is my kinda place. Delicious food, kind of a hole in the wall but clean and good service. The right price, BYOB, this is a great ramen joint.
