Loved it! Stopped by after a movie for some light dinner, and left very satisfied! The Takoyaki were delicious, as were the Toyko and Shogun donburi. The server was very good, efficient and polite. The kitchen got our food out quickly and our dishes were plated carefully and in a visually appealing way - the impression we got was that the whole staff really cares about what they are doing. We will definitely be back!

Very happy to find this small Japanese restaurant while looking for a lunch spot - tried the lunch special, which includes two onigiri & miso soup for just under $10. Fresh and delicious!

Enjoyable sushi joint - was in the neighborhood to see a concert and decided to drop in on a whim. They weren't super busy which meant we were able to get our food quickly. Custom roll was tasty, as was the sashimi. On top of that, the usual appetizers (gyoza, edamame) were also very good. Recommend this place for a quick sushi bite if you're in the area.

A very quiant, high quality cafe with excellent food and an attention to detail. You can tell the owners care about what they serve and the ingredients reflect it. We ordered the chicken katsu Don and the spaghetti cream mentaiko pasta and it was delicious! The Mentaiko pasta I highly recommend and it was definitely the top 5 dishes I've had this year. A perfect balance and rich, heavy cream, sweet crab meat, and a umami saltiness.

The noodle dish was ok. Sushi and rice dishes were below average. Iced Matcha tea was pretty bad.

I did not eat at the restaurant I ordered take out. But it was extremely average. I got the spicy tuna roll and spicy octopus. Neither were even remotely spicy. And the octopus was chewy. I don’t think I’ll be ordering out here again.

Fantastic spot for a delicious and enjoyable Japanese meal ?!!!Ekiben was a wonderful dining experience! From the moment I walked in.... the atmosphere was cosy and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering recommendations on the menu.I had the salmon teriyaki don. It tasted so fresh and flavorful. The ingredients were perfectly cooked and delightful ?.While the food was delicious, I'm also very optimistic that they will continue to innovate and introduce exciting new dishes in the future. ? For example, chef's choice section on the menu where they can showcase their culinary creativity, or loyalty program to reward frequent customers would be excellent (hopefully I don't ask them too much?)I truly enjoyed my experience at Ekiben, and I will definitely revisit and try another dish ?.

Come here hungry because the proportions of noodles to protein in the Pad Thai will fill you up fast. It's very clean, well lit, and has tasteful jazz to serenade you.

I liked coming here. We had lunch which was great! The sushi bowl and nigiri was good. I also tried the tuna roll which was good different than typical sushi roll as the tuna was a canned tuna in the roll versus a fresh tuna. It was like a nigiri style tuna roll. I enjoyed it.:)

We picked up, but can't wait to come back and eat in the restaurant. Food was AMAZING. Tempura was light and fluffy, while being crisp and flavorful. Pork katsu was divine. Sushi was fresh with wonderful depth of flavor and the rice was soft and luxurious. Have onigiri waiting for us in the fridge for lunch. So excited to go in/order again.

Completely blown away by their coconut Green Curry dish! It was deliciously sweet and spicy, served with a very generous portion of jasmine rice. It was a really cold night when I stopped in and this dish really gave me that warm hug feeling! ?? I could definitely taste the love and care that went into the cooking and the ingredients were all super high quality and fresh. Will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu!Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs

Ekiben is named after the bento you get at train stations in Japan to eat on your journey. It has a broader menu than the average train bento, and an occasional Thai twist. My most recent trip to Japan was this past November, and I was stunned as always by what Japan manages to make work as pre-made bento. Ekiben prepares your food fresh and has a full kitchen and even then, sadly, it wasn't as good as Japan's train food. It was fine. The udon noodles were perfectly chewy, in a mild and unassuming broth with some seaweed and green onions. Pleasant on a cold day. The mixed tempura was a massive portion (I couldn't finish it) of shrimp, broccoli, sweet potato, red pepper, and mushrooms. While the batter was crispy on the outside, it was a little heavy and spongy because of its thickness, and was undersalted, especially since it didn't come with any tempura dipping sauce or shichimi togarashi. It also grates to spend $17 on a dish that costs $4 in Japan, which people think is such an expensive country (it isn't, at least not for food) but I suppose that can't really be helped with inflation here being what it is.
